Obituary of David Morrison
It is with heavy hearts that the family of David William Morrison, loving husband of Ruby (MacDonald) Morrison, announces his passing which occurred on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in North Wallace, NS on May 8, 1927, he was a son of the late James and Lena (MacLean) Morrison.
David grew up in Long Creek, NB and after vocational school he worked for Battery and Electric Service in Saint John. Following that, he opened a garage in Norton which he owned and operated for seven years until he switched careers and joined Canada Life Assurance Co. for over 40 years until his retirement. He was Past President of Life Underwriters Association, Past President of the NB Heart Foundation, and a member of Corinthian Lodge (Hampton) and Silver Falls United Church.
David enjoyed spending time with his family, trailering, traveling, going on cruises, having people over for a BBQ, dancing, telling stories, playing cards, going for drives, and especially his Little House in the country. Dave was known for his outgoing personality, sense of humour and positive attitude.
In addition to his wife Ruby Morrison of 69 years, David will be missed by his sons: Paul (Sue) and George (Karen); grandchildren Mark (Christine), Wendy, Jennifer (Peter) and Chris; great-grandchildren Blake, Hailey and John; sisters-in-law Jean (Morrison) Atkinson and Gertrude MacDonald; as well as several members of his extended family.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by a brother Donald Morrison and in-laws: Roy and Bea MacDonald, Ken MacDonald, Ronald and Enid MacDonald, Verna and Lloyd Paterson, George and Leona MacDonald, Alice and Harry Chambers, Flora and Roy Armstrong.
David’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, staff, and all other health care professionals of 4AN, 3CS at SJRH for their compassionate care and professionalism. They also express sincere appreciation to Dr. Robert Poirier and Rev. Steve Longmoore.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John NB (634-7424). Family and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at Silver Falls United Church, 840 Loch Lomond Road, Saint John on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11:00 am. Private interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery, Norton NB. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Silver Falls United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
