Obituary of George Thomas Buchanan

It is with heavy hearts that the family of George Thomas Buchanan, husband of the late Jean Catherine Buchanan, announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Saint John, N.B on July 27, 1928, he was a son of the late Douglas and Laura Ann (Noddin) Buchanan.

George is survived by his children: Ruth Vincent (Barry), George (Dianne), Robert (Carol Levenshulme), Linda Dempster (Ronnie Cullen) and Ronald (with first wife Betty); David Griffen (son of second wife Jean); grandchildren: Robert “Bear” Buchanan (Janice), Trisha Doucette (Derek), Timothy Vincent (April), Tabitha Dempster (Neven), Jennifer Dempster (Darren), Jaclyn and Stephanie Buchanan; twelve great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews and members of his extended family.

In addition to his wife and parents, George was predeceased by his brothers: Chester and Jim.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Loch Lomond Village, Saint John Regional Hospital and Bobby’s Hospice for their exceptional care.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424), with visitation on Sunday, May 26, 2019 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. A funeral Service will be held on Monday, May27, 2019 from Forest Hills United Baptist Church, 36 Mountain Road, Saint John at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow  at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of George can be made to Bobby’s Hospice.
