Obituary of Helen Jean Breen
While we appreciate a life well lived, we grieve for the passing of Helen Jean Breen who went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on October 25, 1927 she was a daughter of the late Paul and Edith (Johnstone) Mersereau.
Helen will be dearly missed by her family – her daughters Sally Craig Seaward (Robert) and Gwen (Fred) Nelson, her son Steve (Kathleen), three grandchildren: Nicole Brown, Jill Norfolk and Chelsea Breen, 8 great-grandchildren and her sister Paula Nason.
Besides her parents, Helen was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Donald Breen and her brothers: David and Paul Mersereau.
Helen graduated from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. In her 42 years of Nursing, she was employed at Dr. Morgan’s Office and later as Charge Nurse at Kennebec Manor where she retired in 1990. Helen enjoyed her years being a member of the Riverside Golf Club and the Royal Kennebecasis Yacht Club. She also loved to travel and play Bridge. Helen was a woman of faith. She was an active member of Main Street Baptist Church where she became a Deacon. Above all, she took great pleasure in the time she spent with family.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Friday, May 31 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 1 at 11:00 AM at RiverCross Church, 61 Forbes Drive, Saint John. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery at a later date.
