Obituary of Freda Margaret Jesso
With heavy hearts, the family of Freda (Roberts) (Scopie) Jesso, companion of the late Blake McKenzie, announce her unexpected passing on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Born in Amherst, NS on April 19, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Jessie (Gaudet) Roberts.
Freda worked for years at Lido Restaurant, dispatching for Scopie’s Taxi, and then became a foster mother. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and was an avid BINGO player until recent years.
Freda is survived by her children: Michael Scopie (Kim), Rickey Scopie (Deb Verner), Grace Scopie (Danny Stevens), Cathy Scopie (Mike Gallant), and Wesley Scopie; adopted children, Richard and Bruce Lee Scopie; sisters and brothers: James Roberts, Ada Ayer (Earl), Richie Roberts (Debbie), Marilyn Jonah (Gary), Diane Roberts, Roger Roberts, Stella Chaisson (Wallace), and Wayne Roberts; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and she will be missed dearly by her cat, Patches.
In addition to her parents and her partner, Blake, Freda was predeceased by her daughter, Vickie; granddaughter, Misty Lynn; and sister-in-law, Rita Roberts.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel at 10 am. For those who wish, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
