Darlene, you must feel so lost without Ron. I remember our times together, but especially your very tasty fish chowder! We've had our share of pain, haven't we, but we have survived. Would love to hear from you. Be assured you are in my thoughts and always have been, off and on, during all these years apart.

My sincere condolences to Darlene and the Hayward family on the recent passing of Ron.
I knew "Ronny" during the early 1960's when we played baseball together in Saint John along with my brother Terry O'Connor. I have many fond memories of those years when we were team mates with the Saint John Mutuals Juvenile team and the Babe Ruth League team named the Roses. Ron was a great team mate, always gave 100%, a leader and a great ballplayer & catcher.
I'm sure his enthusiastic energy continued throughout his teaching career and know he will be missed by many. One of the good ones.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and family during this difficult time. May he rest in peace.
Bill & Terry O'Connor

Hello Brian,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your brother. Ron was the goalie when the St. Malachy's High School team won the city championship ( against Saint John High) in 1961, I believe. My brother Barry, who passed away last year, was a defenceman on that team. My heartfelt condolences to you and all of Ron's family.

Dear Jeff, I heard of my brother's passing on Saturday. I'm am so sorry for your loss. I have a lot of memories for 62 years of being with your Dad. The parties in the backyard on Frink Street for the baseball teams, Ron and Jimmy Cunningham sneaking in the basement window when everyone went to bed and watching Ron play hockey at the old Saint John Forum with your Grandfather A.J. When you and Ian were born it was the most exciting times in our lives. Always remember Ron calling me to babysit you starting from when I was 12. The major winter storm Christmas Eve that A.J., Ron, Joe Keheler, and me piled up the car with your Christmas presents to get back to the apartment on Douglas Avenue. The trip to Bangor I got him to go on where I convinced him we could get that extra large stereo and speakers into Mom's little Mustang. I spent most of my years providing emotional support to Ron and I have no regrets. The last few years there was some hurt that never got explained or even asked about. But know this, your Dad was a kind forgiving man, and I loved him dearly. I know Ian was there to meet him when he passed is now safe in his arms..., Brenda

In the 1980's I began to teach at Prince Charles school. That's when I met Ronnie- A man of high intelligence, a lover of sports and a nurturer of kids. But it was as a colleague I admired him most. Those were the days before "differentiated instruction" but that is how Ronnie taught. There were not a lot of students at Prince Charles , so he took advantage of using several rooms when he taught English, Social Studies and Math. You would find him circulating between several rooms, helping students at their level and encouraging them to improve. One May morning we loaded a bus full of kids and went to the U. de M for the Bronfman Heritage Fair. There was Ronnie, dressed in his Loyalist costume, loading the bus of excited students. He produced the play that I had written about Saint John for the heritage fair. There are so many memories of his help. His love of music inspired me. If you happened to say you liked a song, the next day Ronnie would arrive with a cassette tucked in his pocket upon which he had recorded the song "and some others I thought you might like". I still have six cassettes he made for me and the play list is all written in his handwriting. I value those and I will never forget the kindness of a fine man and a great educator.

Dear Darlene, Jeff, Helen, Brian , & grandchildren,
Words cannot express our most sincere sympathy of the passing of our dear friend, Ron. We have lost a ‘great friend’ & educator/ coach/ player of sports. We have so many ‘fun’ stories to reminisce about the fastball days, teaching days, coaching volleyball events, umpiring days. There was ALWAYS get-togethers/ gatherings/ with ‘an open door’ everytime. He was a mentor to children, and gave all his heart & energy to them— to make their lives a lot better. So loyal, kind, wise, competitive, gentle friend. No more pain, Ron. You will be missed. We will ‘ take care’ of Darlene. Goodbye, my friend❤️

We carry memories of our days in Prince Charles School, the teachers that taught and mentored us ( early 70's) Mr.Hayward was one that always saw to that with his dedication of seeing that we were learning, not daydreaming of the boy across the hall. Well,Sir I married that boy 43 years ago and your name always surfaces when we remissness of those days gone by.Thank you for caring, sharing your talents and love of many subjects.Playing your favorite songs and singing away. You tolerated and guided us down the right paths while our minds ran rapid of our dreams to come. They say you will have a Teacher that touches you in a way you will never forget and you for us were that Teacher. So Heaven has received a True Educator, a man of integrity with a twinkle in his eye who was Cupid too ( you didn't know that Sir) ,but love did blossom those times you would just smile at me and say " Heather ,are you thinking about Donnie or listening to me " Thank You Sir. may you rest easy ,YOU DONE GOOD . I had Mr. Ron in grade 6.
My fondest memories are of him being a lover of music. He would bring in a record player and play us Johnny Rivers "I Can See Clearly Now.", which was his favourite song at the time, plus many others.
I always respected him for his intelligence, honesty, and love of music. He helped inspire me in my career as a musician and to make me part of the man I am today.
A wonderful man.
My deepest condolences.

I am sorry to hear about Mr Hayward.
I would like to send my sincere condolences to all his family and friends.
Mr Hayward was my favorite Teacher. 40 years have gone by since he taught me in
school. Prince Charles 1977-79.
I often sit back and think about those school years and the teachers. Yes, he is the
one that stands out. He was a special kind of teacher. He was a kind man, a good teacher, always had a friendly smile and a listening ear to our many concerns. We
always had fun in his classroom, plenty of laughter, this was the class you could relax in. Thank you for your integrity Mr Hayward.
This is not good bye This is until we meet again

Mr. Hayward was one of those special teachers who made a positive and memorable mark on his students.
I loved learning from him, whether it was english, volleyball or LATIN! He made it enjoyable and easy to understand. His sense of humour and true commitment to his students shown through. But what I think most of what his students loved in him is that he saw YOU- as an adolescent coming into adulthood to be seen and be treated with respect is huge and makes a lasting impact.
Thank you for seeing me Mr. Hayward. Your light helped to light my way. You contributed greatly in this world- I hope you knew that.
My condolences to your family and friends who will miss you here on earth, but I know you now have other good work to do:)

Condolences to the Hayward Family...
Ron you have been an outstanding son that a mother (my sister) could have. You have been brother, husband, father and grandfather. To me you were a very special nephew for almost 76 years. Not only were the doors of your home always open to me but your heart was filled with such warmth, understanding and sincere love to me throughout those family years. We had good times mostly and a few not so good but that never stopped me from loving you. You will always be in my thoughts Ron, R.I.P. FROM YOUR AUNT RUBY❤️PCf5H8
