Obituary of Erminie Anne Gandy
It is with heavy hearts the family of Erminie Anne Gandy Holland announce her peaceful passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on July 3, 2019.
Erminie was born on September 11, 1930 in Saint John NB. The daughter of Erminie Climo Thompson and Eric Granville Thompson, she graduated from Saint John High School in 1947 and studied Fine Arts at Mount Allison University. Following university, she married her childhood friend Bill Gandy and settled in East Riverside, Rothesay, where they raised their four children. For Erminie, her family was her primary source of pride, joy and fulfilment.
Erminie was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Eric Gilbert Thompson, her first husband, William (Bill) Barton Gandy (1985) all of Saint John, and her second husband, James (Jim) Stanley Holland (1996) of Archer, Florida.
Erminie is survived by her daughter Erica (Chookie) Kennedy (Hugh) of New Maryland, NB, and her three sons, William (Bill) Gandy (Jane) of Saint John, NB, Colin Gandy (Angela Sangster) of Kingston, NB, and Dr. Hazen Gandy (Andrea Murphy) of Ottawa, ON. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren: CJ Owen and Daniel Owen of Fort McMurray and Edmonton, AB, Tawnie Gandy and Jennica Gandy of Fredericton and Saint John, Nicholas Gandy of Saint John, Julia Gandy of Hobart, Tasmania, and Ellen Gandy, Alec Gandy and Robin Gandy of Ottawa. Erminie is survived by 3 great grandchildren: Justin Owen and Erica Owen of Fort McMurray, and Emilia Gandy of Saint John.

A private family funeral will take place prior to interment at Fernhill Cemetery where Erminie will be placed to rest beside her husband, Bill. A memorial reception for extended family and friends will be held at the Shadow Lawn Inn, 3180 Rothesay Road, Rothesay, NB on Monday, July 8, 2019, from 5:00 to 7:00PM.
The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the doctors (Dr. Sayeda Mohiuddin, Dr. Chris P. O’Brien, Dr. Amy Groom and Dr. Emily Love) and staff of 3CN and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit (Anke, Ashley, Cheyanne, Darlene, Deborah, Jennifer, Lisa, Marie, Sylvie, and Theresa) at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the wonderful and compassionate care they provided to Erminie in her final days.
