Obituary of Gladys Sargent
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gladys Mary Sargent, wife of the late Archie Sargent, announce her passing on July 7, 2019 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born on December 21, 1920 in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Cyr) Hachey.
Gladys will be lovingly remembered by her son, Archie Sargent (Gloria) of Moncton; sister, Rita Enman of Saint John; grandchildren, Archie Sargent (Janice), Dale Sargent, Tanya Sargent, Tina Thompson, Geoffrey Sargent (Renée), and Sarah MacKenzie (Jay); ten great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Ellen Sargent; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Archie, Gladys was predeceased by her son Gary Sargent; brothers, Arthur, Leo, Benjamin, Paul and Albert; sisters-in-law, Marge Hachey and Alma Hachey; brother-in-law, Kip Enman; and nephew, Brian Enman.
Gladys was happiest when she was sewing, knitting, and quilting. She made many quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren to treasure, and as she got older, she began making little booties and hats for the babies at First Steps. In her spare time, she would garden, craft her own fabric dolls, and loved to watch movies especially horror movies. She loved eating Lays chips, dulse and enjoying a really good cup of tea. Most of all she loved her family, and especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
