Obituary of Ora Mae McAfee

It is with appreciation of a life well lived, that the family of Ora Mae McAfee, loving wife to the late James McAfee, announces her passing which occurred on Friday, July 12, 2019 at the Loch Lomond Villa. Born on May, 23, 1925 in Yarmouth, NS, she was the only daughter of the late Stephen (Alec) and Frances (Rodney) Shaw.

 

Ora was a woman of faith and active member of Main Street Baptist Church. She served as receptionist for several years, and  was heavily involved in church activities. Ora was a member of the choir and volunteered her time serving the surrounding community. She loved to travel, but above all, valued the time she spent with her family.

 

Ora will be remembered by her children: Paul (Carol) McAfee and Lynda (Gary) Stevens, grandchildren: Susan (Blair) Clark, Karen (Luke) Betts and Greg (Kari) McAfee and their mother Jean McAfee, her great grandchildren: Alyson and Jillian Clark, Drew and Annika Betts and Ivy McAfee, her brothers Murray (Emma) Shaw and Vernon (Ellen) Shaw, along with many nieces, nephews and members of her extended family.

 

Besides her parents and husband of 60 years, James, Ora was predeceased by her brother Douglas Shaw.

 

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visitation will take place on Monday, July 15 from 4 – 7 PM. The Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, July 16 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel, with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension.
