Obituary of Kevin Robert Bennett

Kevin Robert Bennett passed away on July 25th, 2019, after a three year courageous battle with leukaemia. Kevin was born to his loving parents Kaare and Doris Bennett, along with his identical twin, Kaare on March 5th, 1967. He will be inconsolably missed by his beloved wife Kristal; daughter, Sasha (Clay Gosson); grandson, Griffin; and son, Cody.

Kevin is survived by his parents, as well as his brothers: Stephen (Karen) their children Andrew & Allyson, Greg (Kathy) their children Reggie & Jade, and Kaare with his daughter Kyanna. He is leaving behind his mother-in-law, Nancy; godparents, Norman and Bonnie Brien; along with several aunts, uncles and cousins. The companionship of his treasured friends Larry Smith, Danny Corkum, and John Bovaird is a great loss.

Kevin enjoyed the outdoors so much that he made a career of it, first as a fisherman and then as a landscaper for 20 years at Scholten’s Landscape and Design.

Kevin was loyal to a fault, honest, and respectful. His humility and compassion was noted by all. As a man with a wonderful personality, he was authentic to himself until the very end. He was a doting husband, a caring father and enjoyed being a silly grandpa to his only grandson. He was also a very artistic man and several of his pieces sold in the gift shops of his hometown St.Martins.

His love of travelling, fishing, ATVing, camping and hunting will be remembered. Kevin’s long drives and no destination, but always ending in ice cream, were greatly enjoyed by his children.

The family would like to thank Dr. G. Maloney, Dr. Le, Dr. Dolan, Dr. Comeau, Dr. Zed, Dr. White, Dr. Hemmings, Dr. Wildish, and Dr. Love for all of your continuing care during the course of Kevin’s illness.

The doctors, nurses and staff of the oncology department, the Chemo room, the blue room, 5AS, 8BMT/Stem Cell transplant unit, Halifax VG site and the staff of Palliative care.

With unending gratitude the Bennett family would like to thank our friends on 4BN for their encouragement, kindness and love that they have shown us. Words cannot express the gratitude our family has for all of you.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A celebration of life will be held at Kevin and Kristal’s home from 6-8 PM on Saturday, July 27th, 2019.
