Obituary of Joyce Marie McGrath

With gratitude for a lifetime of memories, the family of Joyce McGrath of Saint John, cherished wife of the late Ronald McGrath, announce her passing which occurred on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Saint John Regional Hospital.  Born on September 1, 1943 in Woodstock, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Rita (Niles) Trail.

Joyce devoted her life to caring for the needs of those she loved and her grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy.  She always took great comfort in her faith and was an active member of Stella Maris Church.  Joyce was a very generous person, not only monetarily but with her time and was always very passionate about helping children and those less fortunate.  Joyce was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary 6595 and had been a member of Probus.  Together with her dear friend, Shirley B., she always had a great time at the Casino which was also known as her “happy place.”

Joyce’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her good friend and neighbour, Nancy.

Joyce will be lovingly remembered by her children, Brenda Mackin (Mark) of Saint John, Ron McGrath (Tracy) of Quispamsis, Tom McGrath (Ethel) of Saint John and Shyanne Moore (Troy Duff) of Moncton; brothers, Raymond Trail (Linda), Alton Trail, Larry Trail (Shelia) and Jerry Trail (Suzette); precious grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Patrick, Alex, Jillian and Molly; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.  In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Erin and siblings, Gordon, Phylis and Robert.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM with a Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Tribute taking place at 6:00 PM.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church, 201 Bayside  Drive, Saint John, on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10:00 AM.  Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
