Obituary of Mary Lydia Thorne
The passing of Mary Lydia Thorne, of Quispamsis, NB, wife of the late Donald Thorne occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2019. Mary was born in Victoria, Newfoundland on December 26, 1926; she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Sarah E. Sutton. She is survived by her children: Wayne (Gwen), Boyd (Mary) and Paul (Linda), Tucker; her step children: Drew (Rita) Thorne, Cindy (Randy) Smart; grandchildren: Lynn (Tim) Tucker, Jason (Carla) Tucker, Jody (Tracy) Tucker, Selena Tucker and Adam O’Brien, step-grandchildren: Justin (Janet) and Jessica Greenslade, Amanda Thiessen (Peter), Steven and Eric Smart.
Mary is survived by a sister, Marion Horecka (Dan); many nieces and nephews in Labrador, Newfoundland, Ontario, and 3 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by siblings: Melina (Lean) Baldwin (Burt), Nathaniel Sutton (Susie), Harold Sutton (Seneth), James R. Sutton (Mildred), Media (Herb Leilik), Melvin Sutton (Mary).
Mary enjoyed many years as a member of the Quispamsis Senior's Club and a senior’s bowling club. She loved homemaking, cards and keeping up with news from her family in Newfoundland, Labrador and Ontario.
A memorial service will take place at a later date in Victoria, Newfoundland. The family thanks the employees at Kingsway Care Alliance for their kindness and compassionate care of Mary during her last year and a half, and also for the many years of care and kindness from Dr. Lisa Sutherland.
