I first met Doris about 1989-90 when I moved from Dieppe to Saint John to work at Public Works, and I loved her from that very first day. I sure knew the road to Doris’s house, and what a beautiful house it was. I loved her pantry so much, we talked and laughed, hugged. She was so natural, so kind and thoughtful. My son Silvain met the family too, as one night when it got dark, we all had little bottles with covers, and we saw a whole lot of fire flies all lit up, and we were having fun running around catching them, but of course, let them go. I visited Doris a lot over the years, while working with her, and then later my desk went to DSS as depts got amalgamated, to Shediac and they moved me home in 1995, but always visited Doris. Sometime I would bring someone with me. Mom and Dad loved Doris too, they thought a lot of her, and they visited her a few times over the years. We would walk the beach with her, and walk around, talk and laugh. Mom got her sewing machine working again. She liked company and was always smiling and happy. Sometimes I brought treats, and even dinner sometime. One day last summer, I brought her a sub from Subway, and she really liked it. It was nice to see Doris on her birthday, and I have visited often on this day or very close to that special day.. One day a friend and I took her on her Burthday, had a cake too, to .....Beach, and she waded in the water holding her pant legs up. Oh, I have a lot of pictures of Doris, we sure had fun walking up to the lighthouse, going to Frenchy’s, attending outside community activities and restaurants around her area. Even Doris, Sharon Hicks from our work and I went to the Park in Saint John, saw the kids there diving in and we had a picnic there., We could talk about anything and everything. She was a kind, loving, respectable, fun, entertaining, lovely person, and I wish we had more like her in this world. Mom was very upset to hear of Doris passing, and my friends were feeling bad too, as some had also met Doris over the years, and knew how much I loved her. She was a truly wonderful, good person, and I miss her every day. Many, many people loved Doris. Do I miss her? ,,,Every single Day......Linda xo

Jeanne and family. Thinking of you this week and remembering Doris. Mom had such wonderful stories about you, her and Doris from years past, and I'm sure you've reminisced with so many this week as well. I know Mom would be in Chance Harbour today with you all if she were still with us. Take Care. Linda

Doris retained her brightness throughout the years. It was a pleasure to visit her in July when we talked about the "good old days" when we would walk out to the lighthouse to light the beacon or walked the roads and had many laughs. We are not able to attend the service but our prayers and thoughts are with you all. Everyone is kinder from knowing Doris. Hugs and love, Marian and Marilee

To the members of Doris’s family you have our deepest sympathy at this time. A kind and very pleasant person who will be missed by all who knew her. As a child I remember Doris on the beach in front of her home on several occasions giving us children the opportunity to be at the beach. May she rest in peace and eternity

On behalf of Harry Sr, Brian and myself, Harry Jr
It is distressing to note the passing of Cousin Doris.

I had the privilege of working with Doris in the Human Resources branch in all the years she worked with Public Works Canada - from approximately 1980 until her retirement in the 90's. She was well liked by managers and employees alike, and many of her colleagues will be saddened by the passing of this gentle soul. Sharing a photo of her, taken at her home in August 2013, with a big smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye - the way most of us will remember her. Marilyn Benjamin
