I always felt lucky to work with Robert. He was a consummate professional. He had a big voice that I'm sure mariners found comforting in times of trouble and intimidating to those who rightly drew his ire. His forthright manner, his humour and his laughter made our shared shifts at Fundy MCTS go by easily.
My deepest sympathies to Daphne and the rest of his family and friends.
He will be remembered well.

I worked with Robert (he told me it was always "Robert" and loathed being called "Bob") for several years at Fundy MCTS. A true professional on-the-air, and, shall we say, 'colourful', when the microphone wasn't on. A very, very clever man and well informed on practically any topic.I still have his genealogical notes that indicated we had common relatives many generations ago.
A true pleasure to have known him.
My sincere condolences to Robert's family

This is very sad news. Karen and I wish to offer our deepest condolences to Daphne and family. I remember Robert in so many great ways. He and I enjoyed some great times after we first met in May 1983 at Transport Canada Training Institute in Cornwall, ON. Robert told me he bought a suit when he discovered he had an interview for the training opportunity in Cornwall. When our class all successfully finished the training and were preparing for graduation, Robert asked me to take him in to town to have his suit pants adjusted. He said he had lost weight since his interview. Well, the Taylor advised Robert he needed to buy new pants for his suit, as the back pockets started to overlap each other and they could not be adjusted properly. Wow. Yes, he had lost weight. I will always remember the fantastic times we shared with our class during training those 36 years ago. Rest easy Robert. I have so many fond memories of you. You had a way to make people laugh.

Daphne and family I extend my condolences to all. First met Robert on my transfer to Saint John in the Fall of 2000 and shook his hand on the morning of his last work shift at Halifax MCTS 2017. He had wit and a harmless roar. A pleasure to have worked alongside him. Cheers Robert.

My sincere condolences to all. I was lucky enough to work with Robert. I enjoyed his humour and his encyclopedic memory. And his colourful language directed at the user at the other end of the radio lol. RIP my friend.
