Marg was born in Montreal, daughter of the late CAPT CHD Evans and Kathleen (Murray) Evans, loving wife of J Patrick Gallagher of Rothesay and mother of children Cyrilla (François Gauthier) of France, Erin (Bob Black) of Quispamsis, James (Mary Ann) of Rothesay and Shane of St. Martins. Eleven grandchildren, Jonathan, Dria and William Hachey, Benjamin, Gabriella and Tessa Black, Daniel, Mac, Eliza and Nora Gallagher and Avery Gallagher.

Survived by her sister Kathleen Wright (Robert Wright, d.), sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Blair Roma all of Rothesay, her niece, Jayne Roma (Richard Dunlop) of Halifax, NS and nephew Michael Roma of Victoria, BC and great niece Cecelia Dunlop. Predeceased by her brother Herbert “Sonny” Evans and infant sister, Anne.

Marg grew up in the Town of Mount Royal and attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart (City House), Montreal, graduated from St. Paul’s Academy, Westmount and St. Joseph’s Teachers College, Montreal . Marg taught in St. Albans, Vermont and St. Laurent, Quebec where she met Pat, her husband of 53 years.  She started her family in Ile Bizard, Quebec, before moving briefly to Riverview, NB in 1977 and finally settling in Rothesay, in 1979.  In 1986 she and Pat started another adventure and purchased Shadow Lawn Inn.  For 24 years, under their leadership, the business evolved and grew into a successful family business.

A woman of many talents, Marg will be remembered for her enjoyment of life, love of laughter, love of animals especially her dogs, the joy she gained from her family especially her grandchildren. Her creativity was evident in her decorating, gardening, entertaining and culinary abilities. Her luggage was always packed and waiting for Pat to book the next adventure. Over the years they were fortunate enough to experience many trips with friends and family.  Marg and Pat were consummate entertainers, from her cuisine, to his cocktails. When you were invited to their home, you always left well looked after.

Marg was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority for over 5 decades. Her interests included skiing, golfing, (former member of Riverside Golf and Country Club and Westfield Golf and Country Club) boating on the Saint John River and spending time at their beloved cottage on the Belleisle and their winter home in Florida.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).  Her life will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM on Friday October 25th, 2019, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Rothesay, immediately followed by a reception at Shadow Lawn Inn.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Building Fund or a charity of the donor's choice.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
