Obituary of David Gillet
The sudden death of David Gordon Gillet occurred on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at his residence near Havelock, NB. He was predeceased by his wife Carole Mae (Shannon) in 2002 and his son, Troy, in 2014. David was born in Saint John on May 16, 1935, the third son of the late John and Wilhelmina (Hooper) Gillet.
David resided on the Old Black River Road in Saint John, NB for most of his life.
He is survived by his son, Kevin (Tammy) Gillet of Old Black River Road, Saint John; daughters: Mrs. Joey Muise (DeeDee) of Bloomfield, NB and Mrs. Andrew Chiasson (Bonny) of Havelock, NB; grandchildren: Craig Long, Cory (Lindsay) Long, Bryan (Brittany) Gillet, Kevin (Stephanie) Gillet, Taner Gillet, Hannie (James) Hagley and Jonathan (Katie) Belliveau: foster grandchildren: Shawn & Dyllin and his non-related granddaughter, Shyann; great grandchildren: Julian, Addyson, Aleah, Amiah, Damien, Madison, Isabella, Chelsea, Elijah and Freya. David is also survived by his special friend Rhoda Harrison, of Gagetown, NB; brothers: Walter (Mary Lou) of Gagetown, NB, Royden (Barb) of Nerepis, NB and Hilding (Shirley) of Saint John, NB; sisters Pearl Gillet of Ontario and Jean Hughes of Saint John, along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, wife and son, David was also predeceased by brothers: Charles (Wes) and Henry (Harry) and sisters: Ethel and Alice.
David worked at various occupations over the years and retired as a Longshoreman and thus a member of the International Longshoremen’s' Association Local 273 and former member of Balls Lake Fishing Club. David was an avid outdoorsman and his love of family, hunting and fishing was always evident until his last breath.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506) 634-7424, with visiting on Thursday, November 14, 2019 from 2:00 -4:00 and 6:00-8:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at Brenan's Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, November 15, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Interment in Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery will follow the Funeral Service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of donor's choice.
