Obituary of Robert Merritt
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Robert Merritt announces his passing which occurred on Monday, March 9, 2020. Born on June 29, 1942 in Saint John, he was the only son to the late Charles and Kathryn (Vey) Merritt.
Robert was a Pipefitter with Union Local 213 for over 40 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing a bit of guitar and loved old vehicles, his ’93 Chevy half ton in particular, which was in mint condition. Robert enjoyed going for drives, so much that after his retirement, he drove cab.
Robert will be missed by his son Sean Merritt, grandson Drew Merritt, sister Sharon McDevitt, and good friends Lillian Brown and her daughter Chelsey Brown along with many nieces, nephews and members of his extended family.
Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his sister Brenda Fudge.
Robert is resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home. 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where family and friends are invited to visit on Friday, March 13 from 6-8PM. The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, March 14 at 2PM from Brenan’s Chapel.
