We are shocked and saddened today to hear of Byron's passing. We have fond memories of summers in Cape Breton when our children were young, with everyone feasting in Betty's kitchen on May Street. We also remember the famous pool behind Byron's lovely home in St. John when we visited in the summer of 1998.Our youngest son is named Byron in his honor ... Judy was very fond of Byron from her early youth. Nancy, we send our condolences to you on this sad occasion..... Boyd, Judy, Jason, Kyla and Byron, the Holloway family ... Newfoundland

Hi Nancy,
Thinking of you and Byron, this evening.
I first met Byron in 1970, he was working for Olivetti,
I was working at Marque Construction.
Byron impressed me as an honest and trustworthy businessman.
In 1972 I was in charge of office equipment at a trucking company
and he helped me by supplying the same.
We had a long business relationship until I retired in 2008.
Our friendship evolved over the years and included you and Dianne.
It saddens me that I miss our friendship, and our by chance meetings at McDonald's.
Byron always had a smile a twinkle in his eye and a story to tell.

Nancy our heart goes out to you. We saw that you two were clearly soul mates when we met you at McDonald's during one of our many coffee dates with Dad. I remember thinking "Hey, this is the author of those poems I see in the Valley Viewer!" Bryon was so knowledgable and a great conversationalist. The stories he told during those coffee dates were always so entertaining We saw in Byron a caring and loving man. When I would be sitting apart from the "gang" at McDonald's with Dad, Byron ALWAYS made a point of coming down specifically to chat with us! He was such a people person and his contribution to our lives will never be forgotten. I met you both only in the last few years yet you've made an impact in that short time. Hugs to you and thank you for sharing Byron with all of us. xo

Byron was such a sweet man, he used to stop by with a rose throughout our season at Emmerson pools for all the girls in the front office, I've worked there for 15 year's and he never missed a season, he would tell us stories about the ducks in the pool and how we couldn't quite open it yet because they were using it but that he was trying to train them not to lol he would always come in and put a smile on all of our faces with his friendliness and humor, he will be missed very much by all of us,
Shelley and staff of Emmerson Pools

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time in your journey. Reading about Byron brought back many wonderful memories of our Y days uptown. He was always smiling as he was a very “Social Guy”. It makes me smile that he would leave us during a time that Social Distancing is a must. He put a whole new spin on our challenge! God Bless you and those who loved Byron.
Hugs

Byron and Nancy have been my next-door neighbours for 20 years. I remember the first time I ever saw Byron. Very dashing. And a dead ringer for the handsome Canadian actor Leslie Nielsen. Left quite an impression. We commiserated over this and that including the untold damage to our properties when a construction project above us destroyed our hill's drainage system but he and Nancy took it in stride and I, by their example, did so as well. I will miss Byron's efforts to try to re-set our adjoining property line (inside joke...)
Nancy, my sincerest condolences...

Very sorry to hear of Byrons passing as he and Nancy were my equipment suppliers for 40 plus years and very honest and fair . In the 80’s and 90’s I don’t think I ever went to the movie theatre with seeing them both enjoying a new release .. his friendly nature was invaluable I’m sure in his business but he always stopped to talk if I saw him out ... Nancy very sorry for your loss and especially with this Covid emergency for friends and family to see you and offer support ❤️
