Every day, after school, I was always excited to go visit with Archi and Sipra. They both treated me so well, I considered them my grandparents. Archi was such a knowledgeable man. I learned many things from him but often we would just enjoy each other's company. He had warmth, true care for other people and animals and a strong sense of humility. He was so knowledgeable I was able to talk to him on nearly every subject which would make the hours go by. Archi would talk of his experience studying in Glasgow, his life in Saint John, education, history, and politics. I am honoured to have shared time with Archi and will miss him always - Thomas Allen

I had met Archi when we moved to Westgate Drive-seventeen years ago. They were really more than just neighbors with the amount of kindness Archi and Sipr had shared with my family. They made an effort to smile, wave and ask how we were doing every opportunity that presented itself. They stepped forward to help us with our cat, Cuddles, and looked after my younger brother from time to time. They encouraged my ambitions to go travel to Scotland and India as they told stories about places they had been and precautions I should take. They started to feel more like grand-parents and I feel very privileged to have had them both in my life. As my parents had mentioned, “Thank-you Archi for your gentle love, friendship and kindness. We are better for knowing you and will remember you always.”

My grandfather was a pillar of strength and a role model to everyone who knew him. I know him not only as my grandfather but the man who raised my amazing father Raja Mukherji to become the man that he was. My grandfather is someone I held in regard with the highest amount of respect. His strength and guidance has led me to become a better man and continue to strive for greatness. Talking to him every weekend was truly an honour and a privilege. He always radiated warmth, wisdom, optimism and strength...even through the phone! Speaking to him always gave me clarity and strength to take on whatever life could throw at us. His advice would always make me feel like I can take on the world. His vast knowledge of everything from engineering, to music, to whatever one can think of was something I truly admired. He believed that with hard work and dedication, sky is the limit and his life definitely showed that. I still remember going back many years, he would take me on drives in Saint John whether it was to Tim Horton's or just the local gas station. I remember seeing the many people that would greet him and the many people who's lives he has impacted. It just makes me proud to be his grandson. He is a fine example of how a man should live his life and I aspire to follow in his footsteps and carry on his legacy. I miss you Dadubhai and I love you always. May you rest in peace.

Dadubhai, as I called him, was an amazing grandfather. His sense of humour and strength gave me comfort when my dad passed away. With every bad situation, one joke would cheer me up. Even his laugh made everything better. Him and I used to sit in his basement and listen to his collections of the acoustic guitar music. He would also show me his photo albums of the amazing pictures when he went to Europe. My grandfather was the strongest, nicest, smartest, and most humble man I know. I love you Dadubhai, I will proudly carry on your legacy. Love, your Little Tweety-Bird (Nilasha).

My grandfather has always been a pillar of strength and a role model to me. I not only look at him as my grandfather, but as the man who raised my amazing father Raja Mukherji to become the man that he was. My grandfather was always my biggest supporter, calling him every weekend whenever I had the chance was always a privilege. Talking to him always gave me a sense of clarity in anything life had to throw at us. His vast knowledge of everything from engineering, to music, to whatever one can think of was always something I admired about him. As long as I have known him he never showed signs of stress, or weakness. He was a beacon of strength for the entire family. He always radiated warmth, wisdom, strength, and optimism throughout his life as long as I have known him... even through the phone! I have always regarded my grandfather with the highest amount of respect. I still remember every time I talked to him, he always had a story to tell from his wonderful life and it always had a deeper meaning. These stories I have always cherished as it has guided me and so many others through tough times. Going back many years I still cherish the drives we would go on in Saint John. Whether it was to go to Tim Horton's, or the gas station, seeing the many people who knew him and the impact that he has had on their lives is incredible. I cherish every moment I have spent with him whether it was in person or over the phone. His strength and guidance has led me to be a better man and to always aim for the sky. The example he has set of how a man should live his life is something I will always look up to. I miss you Dadubhai, may you rest in peace.

So sorry for your loss. Sending our condolences to the family.
I was so fortunate to have Archi as my first supervisor at NB Power. I will never forget the leadership and mentorship he gave me as a young graduate engineer which I carried throughout my career. Even after his retirement, I would occasionally see him at Tim Horton’s and chat over a coffee. Archi was always more than a boss, he was a true friend and I am so thankful to have known him. He will be dearly missed.

Archi was one of the very first neighbors we met when we moved to Westgate Drive – seventeen years ago.
My first impressions of Archi were gleaned from the meticulous care he demonstrated for his home and garden which I felt were showcase examples of his hard work and how keen an eye he had for detail and order. In fact, I’m sure that the first few years of the constant renovation and disorder that was taking place at my home probably caused him some suffering. If he did suffer though, he never let it show! He would, however, from time-to-time, impart some of his wisdom - as fatherly-like advice, regarding my lawncare. I told him that my crop of dandelions, crabgrass and creeping Charlie were prize winning varieties and the contrast between his manicured patch and mine kept things interesting in the neighborhood…he always chuckled.
Our cat, Cuddles, was another common bond between us. Today she’s what you’d expect of a16 year old tabby but in those early days she was small, full of energy, and had at least nine lives. Cuddles roamed from time-to-time, most dangerously, across the street to Archi and Sipra’s and Archi would often give us regular updates of her daily misadventures. You could tell Archi had a love of animals and it wasn’t too long before we would ask that he feed our kitty-cat while we went off on family vacations.
Archi always kept on top of the happenings on the political landscape. He seemed very tuned-in to that and often the curbside conversations we would have had Archi baiting my opinion on some government initiative, scandal or other…but I knew better. While he was always rich with facts, figures and detail, I was unarmed. I admired him for his knowledge in these matters.
Archi loved to talk about his time at university in Glasgow. My wife Jane was born and raised near that city and worked there herself before emigrating to Canada. His eyes would always light up and he would smile broadly while telling Jane, in particular, of his antics whiles a student there.
Archi had a few health scares over the years, but I was always impressed by his no-nonsense determination and willpower to get back on his feet again…he always seem to be on the move – walking, driving and travelling and we always got an update about his latest adventures.
Finally I would say what most represented a remarkable patience, perseverance and quiet endurance was the relationship that both he and Sipra developed with my youngest son, Thomas. Thomas wasn’t a precocious kid but was spirited with a gift-of-gab and he often spent many hours with his surrogate grandparents - Archi and Sipra. I’m not sure who was entertaining who, but the genuine care, interest and kindness shown our son by our neighbors was truly special and heartwarming.
Thank-you Archi for your gentle love, friendship and kindness. We are better for knowing you and will remember you always.

Baba, as I fondly called him was the Rock in the family. He stood by us strongly when my husband, his Son, Raja passed away tragically, not so long ago. My kids, Neelanjan and Nilasha, his grandchildren looked up to him, admired his courage and deeply respected his depth of knowledge on every subject. He was our solace every weekend and our comfort in times of need, even though he lived miles away. Just the sound of his strong voice brought comfort and gave us strength. Its hard to comprehend that he is no longer with us. May his Soul Rest in Peace. We love you Baba!

Archideb Mukherjee or Patamda, was my first jamaibabu ( brother in law ). I was about 10 years old when he married my cousin sister, Sipra. I have many fond memories of him. One I want to share. He sent me a pair of fashionable shoes from Bombay by parcel. I was very thrilled to get them, since they were not available in Patna. He also took many wonderful photos of our family. My deepest respect to you Patamda. May your soul rest in peace. With love, from Alpana

I first met Archi on October 29, 1981 at the Coleson Cove Generating Station when I was just starting my career with NB Power. He made an immediate impression of being a strongly knowledgeable engineer, and as time went by, it became obvious that he was a capable manager who supported his people and guided their development. He and I worked together on resolving issues at the station and, as the years passed, I appreciated the support he and his group provided to myself in meeting the maintenance needs for the station.
I was fortunate to have known him as a colleague, a person, and a friend. I am saddened to hear of his passing, and extend my condolences to his family during this difficult time
