Lesley and Matthew... Richard and I were very saddened to hear that you mom had passed... She was a lovely person. Her ready smile and great sense of humour never failed. Even when her last battle left her so weak and weary she still managed to keep a smile in her voice and tell a funny story. I liked you mom very much and she will be missed.

To Lorraine’s family we wish to add our condolences from a neighbour’s perspective. We will miss her presence and cheerful greeting on her regular walks around K Park, often with one or more friends. We know her family was paramount in her life and how much she valued their regular connections. Her many accomplishments were to be admired, likely a reflection of her parents’ influence and a legacy of which her family can be proud. Please accept our sympathy. Sincerely, Jane and David Barry

I was so sorry to hear of Lorraine’s passing.
I remember her well and very fondly. We were school mates, at St. Vincent’s together from Grade 7-12. She was smart, kind and very generous. I seem to remember at least one study group , to help us crack Chemistry. Thinking about her this week has brought back a lot of memories.
Lorraine and I went in different directions after high school and especially after university. But we connected a few times in those years and it is her sweetness and sense of humour that remain with me most of all.
To the Shannon family, please accept my deepest condolences on Lorraine’s passing.

Dear Lesley and Matthew,
I knew your mom from our time together at UNBSJ where she was known in our circles as "The Whale"- Lord knows not because of her size! Smart, lightening quick ripostes, self- deprecating humor, beautiful smile, never knew her to say an unkind word of anyone. I am so sorry for your loss. May she rest in peace.

We send our sincere thoughts on Lorraine’s passing. Deanie and I go back to the 60s with your parents and Lorraine and I were on UNBSJ together in 1965. Lorraine was an outstanding student and in one of our courses she ALONE passed before scaling which I needed. We will always remember her impish smile and infectious laugh. She was so proud of both of you and your families and especially Zachary.

I met Lorraine at my father’s wedding to Vince’s cousin (also named Lorraine). Due to the fact they were both named Lorraine, she was known among the family as “the other Lorraine”. She used her introductions to me to tell me that she was “The Lorraine” and my new step-mother was “the Other Lorraine”. From then on in my life, Lorraine Shannon was ALWAYS “The Lorraine”. What an amazing woman and will be greatly missed.

Lorraine and I were classmates at St. Vincent’s High School and then we both went to UNB. We were in different programs but spent lots of time together during our undergrad years. Lorraine had a wonderful sense of humour, often of a self-deprecating sort. I always remember her description of a Sociology class during which she occasionally (or maybe regularly) fell asleep and drew sarcastic remarks from the professor. I moved west and lost direct contact with Lorraine, but mutual friends kept us in touch. Right after Christmas 2018 we met in Sidney BC where Lorraine was visiting Matthew’s future in-laws. It was wonderful to see her again and catch up on our lives. She was so proud of her children.
Leslie and Matthew, Emery and Carole and Josephine – please accept my condolences. This is an awful time when friends and family can’t gather to support you.
