My mom Nancy Northorp told me this story this morning.
Back in the mid 1950’s when Phyllis and my brother Bobby were first married they drove up to Ontario to stay with my husband Rick and I during a very long brutal heatwave (prior to air conditioning). While the four of us were visiting our Uncle Bob and Aunt Emma, Phyllis said that we should jump into their shower fully clothed to cool off before going back out onto their balcony. Thinking this was a fine idea being so hot and miserable and a little tipsy I went first but then Phyllis chickened out or was kidding or both. Of course when we walked back out onto the balcony me soaking wet it caused quite a stir and we soon left with both Phylis and I sitting in the backseat of the car bawling our eyes for the whole trip home (but at least I was cool). I don’t think we ever spoke of it again.
She sends her condolences and love to Kim and Mark as do I. XO

Our deepest condolences to the Gallant family and especially; Kim and Mark for the loss of your mom, we share in your sorrow.
Both Peter and I hold fond memories from our youth hanging out at your house. Your mom always shared her charming wit and warm hospitality, even with the brood of kids hanging out at your house. She had a wonderful way of making you feel welcome and treated us all like we were her own.
She was practical, kind and loving, a legacy she has passed along to the both of you. We are thankful to have known her and she will always hold a special place in our hearts. Please reach out if there is anything we can do to help.

Our dearest family, we are so saddened by the loss of Aunt Phyllis, what a stalwart and humour filled woman she was. I hadn’t seen her for years until 2008 and she greeted me like a long lost child. I’ll never forget. Auntie was a wonderful woman, hardworking and so incredibly warm and loving. Kim and Mark, Mom and the rest of the family and I want you to know how much we love you and are praying for your peace.

To Phyllis' family:
My deepest sympathy and prayerful support as you mourn the death of your death mother. What a joy it was for me to welcome her every Sunday morning to the 10:00 am Mass and see her enter the Cathedral on the arm of her daughter, Kim. They would take their usual place, be fortified with the Sacrament of the Eucharist and be that wonderful witness of being with other Cathedral parishioners.
Know that she will be fondly remembered by me, as I always appreciated her.
I will be offering a Mass for her and all of you and await the day when I will be able to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial for her.
Fr. Doug
