Our bridge club was at Kathy’s house this particular week. We needed a spare at the last minute so John stepped in to help us out. There he was sitting at the bridge table, in a dress, pearls, earrings and a blonde wig...sweating profusely.....with a cigarette in his hand....The sight was hilarious and he loved it all...He and Kathy were perfectly paired. He will be missed by his family and friends...Thinking of you Kathy and family....

Mary dear, Though there is little friends can say or do, may the unspoken words of caring and the silent prayers that come from within the heart give you strength and peace. We know you thought the world of your brother. Each and every moment of that love for Johnny will live forever in your heart and be a place you return to for comfort and for love.

I was deeply saddened yesterday to learn of the passing of John and would like to take this opportunity to pass along to his wife Kathryn and the Family my sincerest condolences. John was an extremely convivial person, very well liked in his home territory and a major contributor to the community he served so well. I had the great fortune to be a neighbour of John's as well as serve in the Provincial Legislature together, a fact that John never held too seriously against me.
He will be greatly missed by Family and friends alike Sincerely Robert Corbett

Dear Hughie
Please express my condolences to your Mom and sisters
I know you will miss your Dad, but let me assure you that he really appreciated your efforts to teach him the art of fly tying. I personally know how you worked to involve him in the music scene at some of the local clubs. The stories of the disasters that only you and he could cause, will ever remain a legend at Rocky Bend.. "Your poor mother"
Your Dad was a a true sportsman with a salmon rod or a fowling piece, but mostly with a cocktail and a story in camp after the days sport. Truly Natures Gentleman.
You and your family need not worry because there is a special place for fine men like the Honorable John in the hereafter, even though he did backslide a little by being a Grit.
Godspeed John

With fond memories I offer my sincere condolences to Kathy and family. Three factors in particular: 1) how helpful he was to this rookie MLA in the mid 70s; 2) how keenly interested he was in my work/studies as a law student; 3) how he was so sensitive and eager to having proper programs for disadvantaged individuals. With sincere sympathies and prayers, Mike McKee

Dear Kathy,
My sincere condolences on the death of John. We haven't seen one another in the past few years (which seems like yesterday now) but I do recall with fondness our conversations that somehow always got around to the politics of the day. John has left a legacy of valuable contributions to his community and our province. My thoughts are with you.

My earliest memory of my brother John is when I was 3 (and 4) years old. My parents were strict about an early bedtime schedule for me then but very occasionally, Johnny would sneak into my bedroom at twilight and sit on the edge of my bed. He would lovingly pick up one of my small hands and outline it against his adolescent one. “Mary, why is your hand so little?” “I dunno” was my reply with an adoring smile. After that, he would caress my hand once and kiss it softly ... then leave me in a state of great happiness. You might well wonder why this simple occurrence meant so much to me? Because in a home full of MUCH Alpha male dominance, it seemed so special for me to feel noticed.
Thank you Johnny, and I promise to never forget you ❤️ Philippians 1, verse 3 KJV

To Vera, Art and Turnbull family- please accept my sincere sorrow on your recent and seemingly quick loss. As a lawyer for 40 years in this community , I can truly say John Turnbull was a wonderful and brilliant justice, mentor, master of the English language both at law and humour and a great member of our Saint John /Rothesay/ Quispamsis family. Truly Sincere- Bill Gandy and family
