Helen Savoie

Obituary of Helen Mae Savoie

It is with great sadness that the family of Helen Mae (London) Savoie, wife of 65 years to the late Louis Alphonse Savoie, announce her passing on Friday, May 22, 2020 at her residence in Garnett Settlement. Born on October 20, 1933, in Saint John, NB, she was a daughter of the late James E. and Lillian L. (Wilcox) London.

Helen was blessed with many gifts- incredible courage, determination and strength, a razor sharp mind and quick wit, a huge heart that gave all of herself in the service of others, especially her husband and children. Her sense of loyalty and her unrestrainable sense of humour will be greatly missed. Her legacy is that she has given all of her gifts freely to her children, and all who knew her. She was the matriarch of her family, a cornerstone which held fast all those around her. She was at all times a great lady, loving wife and mother, a light to all who knew her. She has set a standard difficult to meet, but she expects no less than our best, because that is what she always gave.

Helen will be lovingly remembered by her children, Linda (Rick), JoAnne (Rick), Susan (Brian), Sandra (Kevin), Kimberly (Tony) and Glen (Mary); grandchildren: Alaina (PJ), Ian, Lori-Anne, Matthew (Krista), Adam (Michelle), Kris (Amanda), Courtney (Ryan), Ryan,  Alicia (Nick), Justin, Connor and Olivia; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers: Gordon (Bernadette), Joseph, and Fred; sisters: Lorna, Shirley, and Adeline; sister-in-law, Charlotte; as well as members of her extended family.

In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her son, Raymond; brothers: Sonny, Robert, Kenneth, and Ronald; sisters: Jenny, Marilyn, and Donna; nephews, David and Norman; and niece, Sharon.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A private interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. www.BrenansFH.com.
