I want you to know that having only meeting Tom twice in my life, he was a great Spirit. My first meeting was at Arty's Farm when Sue Burgoyne and I (as 16 yr old teenagers) were given permission by Aunt Margaret to go to the Barn and ride the horse. We made out way there and found the Draft Horse with a complete harness on it's back (we were not Farm experienced!!). Sue and I unbuckled "every" buckle until the harness fell off and we had a great ride with that horse. When Bob and Tom came home and went to the Barn later that day - well let's just say we were not their favourite Cousins!!!
The second time we saw him was at my Brother, Robert's, Funeral in Quispamsis, NB. March 23rd, 2014. As he came through the door I did not know exactly who he was; but definitely new he was related. I said to my Son, that if he ever wondered what his Great Grandfather (Robert McCaughey) looked like - there he is. Then Tom introduced himself, fit right in, with our family and entertained us with lots of Stories. What a nice guy. The pic below was taken that day, with my Sister Linda and her Daughter Melissa on the left and my Son, Steve and I on the Right of Tom.
God Bless you Tom and Peace to ALL YOUR FAMILY!
Jerry Martell (Son of Alice (Martell) McCaughey, Margaret's Sister)

I'm laughing at the story of riding the horse and unbuckling all the harness. I will read this message to Bob. I went with my Dad and Bob to your brother's funeral in 2014. Dad told me he stopped by after the funeral and loved his visit. It is cool to know he resembled Grammie's dad. I did not know that.
Thank you so much for your condolences! I would love to meet you someday :-)

Lisa Ervin Posted Jun 1, 2020 at 6:13 PM
Hi Vicky and Peter,
Dad enjoyed his truck-driving buddies! He would come home with stories of how he teased people, raced a few races to get past people in the truck, and laughed about his days on the road.:-) He is in Heaven now and happily teasing his brothers and sisters on the other side--oh dear! There could even be a few swear words being said over there by now ;-) Thank you for your condolences! Lisa for Dawn and the rest of the family

Terry and Andrew Buchanan (former pullers that pulled against Tom) send their condolences to the family. We shared a lot of laughs, stories and a few drinks with Tom. Good times were had by us all. Tom you will be missed.
Lisa Ervin Posted Jun 1, 2020 at 6:21 PM
Hi Terry and Andrew, one of my Dad's passions was horse pulling! He loved the sport, the people, and all the horses. In the past few months I would have Dad come stay for the weekend and would show him horse pulls on YouTube. He enjoyed watching until his last days! Please remember him as you enjoy the sport into the future. I'm sure he will be watch from Heaven on some form of big screen :-) Thank you for the condolences from Lisa McCashion Ervin for Marion all of Dad's family!

We are so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. He was a good friend and helped Cameron when he had his stroke. Cameron always enjoyed Tom's visits. Sometimes they would sit for hours and talk and watch his horse in our pasture. I think it helped Cameron a lot. We will miss him.
Lisa Ervin Posted Jun 1, 2020 at 6:36 PM
Hi Joann and Cameron,
Dad was compassionate. For as long as I can remember he would always want to cheer up the sick. If you were contagious, you would get a phone call. If you were not contagious, it was time for unlimited popsicles and ice-cream. I learned compassion and empathy from my Dad. I'm happy he was able to share that gift with Cameron when he needed to be cheered up. Thank you for the condolences! From Lisa McCashion for Marion and the family

Lisa Ervin Posted Jun 1, 2020 at 6:51 PM
Hi Tina,
Family dinners and cards at the McCashion farm were times I will never forget. I don't play many games. So I would sit back and watch them play. My dad, his brother John, and sisters Margret Ann and Agnes were something to see. The teasing, cheating, along with a few swear words was fun to watch. They are all in Heaven now and the games are on again. This makes me smile :-) Thank you for the condolences! Lisa McCashion Ervin for Marion and the family

Marion, Dawn, Lisa and families.
We were saddened to read the obituary for Tom. We first met him in 2001 when we moved to Grand Bay-Westfield. Tom was one of the first people to introduce himself to us in the neighbourhood. He was a good neighbour. He always had time to talk. We recall going with him up river to load hay for his horses. We have memories ,through the years, of him visiting with us before Christmas.
We are remembering you in prayer as you walk through the valley of the shadow of death. "The LORD is close to the brokenhearted." Psalm 34:18
