I went to NBCC with Mike from 2003-2005. We did our work terms together at iIrvig Paper. Mike was such a fun loving guy and everyone liked him... how could you not. He had a soft heart and a kind spirit. Krissy, I met you a couple of times and I remember thinking how sweet it was to see the way he looked at you. Yet another side of Mike. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing at such a young age. Taken way too soon.

My heart felt condolences to you and Mike's family. I remember when you guys were first getting together back in the Thumper days; Mike was lighthearted, funny, always smiling and a helpful kind soul. He loved you dearly and that was very obvious. He will be missed by all that knew him. It's been many years, but I still have great memories of the love you two shared. <3 hold your memories close, he will be with you always.

Krissy,
We are very saddened to hear of Mike's passing. He was a good friend and a pleasure to work with. Whenever there was a two man job at work, Mike was always everyone's first pick. Always happy and positive. Carmen and myself enjoyed our times out with you and Krissy. Whether it was catching a McGowan's show, a road trip or doing a couch tour at your house, it was always fun. We always enjoyed your stories and wit. You will be missed by many.

My deepest condolences to Krissy and family. Mike will be sadly missed among our team. He continued on as a valuable team member during his fight. He was an inspiration to us all in the AB north crew. I spent time with Mike in St. Andrew's. Then some 20 yrs later I received a call from this cheerful sounding guy responding to a posting. I happened to be in Edmonton interviewing for a position Mike was very over qualified for but insisted he would be of huge value. I recognized his name and voice from the old days at the pub. Well it was very obvious he was right within the first few days of joining us.
From the entire BGIS team, we will miss you Mike.

Mike was a force like no other, he was the epitome of kindness. He came into our family’s life when we all needed a breath of fresh air and he came in like a tornado. I was living abroad and for a few years would hear about this Mike guy, how cool he was, how much fun he was and on and on. Then I met him, and as we say in the Caribbean ‘meh spirit tek he’ he was undeniably the nicest person I’ve ever met without fault. Ppl say this all the time, but Mike would literally give you the shirt off his back. He loved all the things we did; a backyard lime, beer, good food and laughing incessantly. We shared so many world views because Mike was an ubiquitously good human being. The world with Mike in it was a world where compassion trumped everything else. My dad and Mike loved to ‘fix’ things they bonded over putting up not one but two fences, not one but three gazebos, and a deck. When it came to a backyard all they needed to feel inspired was a bbq full of food and a cooler full of beer. Him and my mom enjoyed sharing recipes as he honed his Caribbean cookout skills. After a 12 hr shift, Mike would tell my sister there was no better time to just light a fire in the backyard and relax telling jokes. I am forever honoured that Mike trusted me with the care of his beloved Chevy whenever him and Krissy visited St Johns. Our deepest condolences to Krissy and the rest of the Calnan clan. Mike was and remains love and light.

Where do I start! I remember Michael from forever because our moms were inseparable for as long as I can remember. He and I originally spent so much time together between Alexander street and Dominion park because our moms were hanging out always laughing.. Michael and mike Doiron used to blow up crickets in glass jars with fire crackers while I told them off and I remember Michael loved stirring me up because I’d get so upset. He was always smiling, laughing and enjoying his friends. Then we were teens and hung out with a few others in my basement to with them purple shag carpet, listening to lots of music but we were so excited when Boston would come on.. and he lived his life like that song “Dont look back” and he obviously lived an amazing life with a loving wife, family and friends. We kept in touch through FB because I live “down under” and again shared memories and music. I count Michael as one of my closest childhood friends and I am going really going to miss him. I hope that you all- Krissy, Mary-Eileen, Joe, John, Jerry and of course dearest Mary, will cherish the memories you made together and find peace in sharing these memories together. Deepest sympathy to you all and you are in my prayers, Allie Mackie and family xx

To my brother Mike,
I know brother that we have not been the best of brothers or even " brothers ". We have had our fights and not talked in a while and now I am so very sorry for that. Not having the chance to hear your voice one more time even it's to yell at me again is tearing me up inside. I didn't think I would lose you before we had the chance to clear the air and for that my heavy heart is so very sorry that we did not talk. I am sorry Mikey, you were still my brother and I did love you with all my heart and soul. You have always been a good brother and friend to us all. Goodbye my brother Michael, I will always have you close in my heart. Love you always.
