Dear Doug and family - I was looking today to see if Norma was on Facebook or some other social media platform and sadly discovered she had recently passed away. Please accept my sincerest condolences.
Norma and Doug and I met in Thompson, Manitoba in the late 1980’s through a couple of organizations, most notably Canadian Crossroads International. Our small local committee met frequently over potluck suppers and laughed that we often all brought the same type of dish. Norma and Doug were an integral part of my community in Thompson and I cherished their friendship. A year or so later I invited Norma to join me from New Brunswick on some travels around Newfoundland which she did. We had a great time exploring. I remember being the only ones in one hostel and drying out our soaking wet camping gear in another. I had the good fortune to be able to visit Norma and Doug in New Brunswick a number of years later and it was like no time had passed between us. Norma was truly a remarkable woman and friend. I am so sorry for your loss.

Doug, I don't know if you remember me. My mother and i had a health food store on Princess Street. Norma shopped there often and we always had wonderful, interesting and pleasant conversations. i remember her bringing your two sons with her too.She was always teaching them something. I was shocked to just see the obit. today. I was looking at Brenans website and came across it. I am very sorry to hear this. My mother passed away in 2018 at the age of 74. It was a shock. I understand the loss you must feel. I would always stop and talk to Norma if we ran int o each other uptown. A really Lovely woman. A real loss. Cindy Kilpatrick

I met Norma when she was helping a Crossroads young lady from India. She made two beautiful cross stitched Christmas stockings for her boys, which I had the pleasure to finish sewing for her. She was so kind, enthusiastic, generous, and humble and always put her family first. She was a wonderful lady whom I wish I had known better, and still she made an indelible impression on me. My sympathies to her loved ones.

My sincere condolences to the entire family. Norma and I met as students at UNBSJ. It was she who got me involved in Rovers and from there another 15 years with Scouts Canada in many different roles. I never met anyone so service orientated and willing to share her knowledge from cooking to photography and too many other topics to mention. I will remember her as a gentle soul with iron determination. Rest easy dear girl.
