Obituary of Irene Catherine Ellen Donovan

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Irene Catherine Ellen (Nixon) Donovan announces her passing, which occurred on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at Shannex – Embassy Hall. Born November 15, 1923, she was a daughter of the late James and Dorothy (Bayes) Nixon.

Irene loved travelling. She was an avid bowler, loved attending senior events and baking, and she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Irene is survived by her sons Eric (Mary) and Robert (Janet) Donovan; grandchildren Chris, Jeff, Sheena, and Ryan; great-grandchildren Liam, Ella, Hallie, Thomas, and Lawson.

Aside from her parents, Irene was predeceased by her husband, William Donovan; brother Harold; sisters Evelyn and Joan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Parkland Shannex Concord and Embassy Hall for the compassionate care of Irene during her time there.

Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, July 21, 2020, from 12:00 – 2:00 PM. A graveside service will be held following visitation at 2:30 at Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. For those who wish, donations in Irene’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
