Obituary of Joe Mortimer
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Joseph "Joe" Mortimer of Saint John, NB, husband of late Joan Mortimer, which occurred suddenly on Tuesday July 21st, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in 1934, he was the son of late John and Sadie (McLaughlin) Mortimer. As a jack of all trades, Joe took on many endeavors, from owning his own business to retiring from Maritime Opportunity Centre. He was a member of the #69 Royal Canadian Legion, where he enjoyed many dances, laughs, and friends. He is survived by one son, Joey Mortimer (Marg); six daughters, Beryl Vautour (Leonard), Cathy Dupuis (Eric), Mary Clain (Tony), Cindy Rathje (Ron), Rose Sinclair (Tod), Sharon Mortimer (Linda).
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) with visiting on Thursday July 23, 2020 from 2pm to 4pm, and 6pm to 8pm. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. A Funeral Service will be held Friday July 24, 2020 at 12pm from Brenan’s Chapel with interment to follow at Cedar Hill Extension. Those unable to attend are welcome to view a livestream of Joe’s service starting at 12pm on Friday, July 24, 2020.
* Due to Covid-19 restrictions funeral services will be limited to family ONLY, visitation is open to friends and acquaintances with a limit of 26 people in the parlor at a time.
