Obituary of Michael DeMerchant

It is with broken hearts that the family of Michael John DeMerchant, loving husband to Patricia DeMerchant (Clarke), announce his passing on Wednesday, July 29,2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Perth-Andover, NB on May 1, 1956, he was a son of the late Jack and Joyce DeMerchant.

Michael was a loyal employee of Revenue Canada for many years. He had many interests including cooking, golfing, walking his dog, entertaining friends and family, was an avid Chicago Black Hawks fan and loved to spend time doing crossword puzzles. Above all he was a perfect husband, father and stepfather. He was loved and will be missed by all.

Michael is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patricia; daughter, Tanya DeMerchant (Scott) of Ottawa, ON; stepchildren, Daniel and Jennifer of Vancouver, BC; brothers, Chris DeMerchant (Brenda) of Perth-Andover and Greg (Charlene) of Fredericton, NB; seven grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, August 6, 2020 from 1PM-3:00 PM. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with covid-19 protocol. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 PM in Fernhill Cemetery.
