Obituary of Christine Brown

Elsie (Christine) Brown passed away September 19, 2020, in Saint John, NB. Born on October 22, 1936, in Kemptown, NS, Chris was the daughter of the late Andrew and Elsie (Crowe) Brown. She was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) George Charles Brown. She is survived by her son John (Susan) Brown of West Kelowna, BC; daughter Janice Brown of Saint John, NB; brother Robert (Helen) Brown of Dartmouth, NS; grandchildren, John (Sophie), Lynn (Kerry) Berndt, and Stephen (Natasha); great-grandchildren Kameron, William, Madeline, Katalina, Emmett, Ronan and Tiana; several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by her sisters Sharon Brown and Muriel (Bruce) Fraser.

Chris graduated from Aberdeen Hospital School of Nursing in 1957, and worked as a Registered Nurse until she retired from the Miramichi Hospital in Newcastle. Chris often told stories of their travels while stationed in France from 1959-1963. That’s where she began her love of camping, and spent many happy times enjoying our national parks in the years that followed. She played an active role in her church and was on the steering committee of the NB Christian Ashram.

Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Interment to take place at Valley Cemetery, Truro, NS, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
