So sad to hear the news of the Bill Gale passing and offer condolences to his family and friends. Bill was an amazing man and was always a dedicated professional working hard to achieve great things for our province and community. The endless work he did for the community and for child poverty was a good indication of the great soul and spirit he had a rare quality trait. Certainly a great loss to province and deepest sympathies go out to his family.

I am so sorry to learn of Bill’s passing. He hired me at RBC by wooing me away from the competition. A true leader in both RBC and the community. Everywhere Bill went, he was developing business opportunities and dropping a business card on our desk to lend a hand as a banker or a volunteer. It was a standing joke that we kept a change of clothing in our locker in order to attend a function with a moments notice.
Bill had a huge impact on many peoples lives and he will be missed.

Twenty years ago in 2000, I was asked by my employer to move to New Brunswick and manage the newly-acquired Delta Brunswick. Our NL based company, Fortis Properties had purchased the hotel and Brunswick Square. Shortly after arriving, my colleague and I enjoyed a coffee in “Shuckers” with another Newfoundlander. Bill Gale made an impression on me that day that will remain with me forever. Bill was eager to have Fortis Properties help him in his quest to stifle poverty in Saint John. His vision and passion were something to behold.
Paulette Hicks and I were sold that day and the rest quickly became history. In the ensuing years, Fortis Properties helped Bill and BCAPI leverage the community, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for Bill’s cause. Fortis Properties would exit the property business in 2015 but the most notable legacy of our coffee at Shuckers is that my friend, Paulette, a powerful leader in her own right, is now Co-Chair of BCAPI.
As we see with Paulette’s torch bearing, Bill’s legacy will never leave us. He remains such a powerful example for us all. Thank you, Bill.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Bill’s family. Smile when you remember him.
Rest In Peace, my friend.
Sincerely,
Terry Chaffey,

Marina and Family: We are so sorry to learn of Bill's passing and our thoughts and prayers are with you all. He was a great colleague over the years and I turned to him on more than one occasion for his sage advice. My first memory of Bill is when we were "foot soldiers" at Royal Bank in the early '60's, he at Freshwater and LeMarchant, me at West End. I use the analogy of "foot soldiers" because much of our daily activities as young bankers was done on foot around St. John's, in all kinds of weather. In later years we worked together briefly at the NL Regional Office where his Placentia Bay wit and humour would often have us in stitches. He is remembered for his leadership accomplishments in various capacities throughout his community. Proud to call him a great friend and fellow Newfoundlander. RIP, Bill!

Our sincere condolences to Marina & Family.
We have known Bill Gale since 1967 when we all worked for the R.B.C. Over the years, Bill was certainly a mentor to me and I am proud to say he shaped many of my decisions to this day. Bill was a Boss who you never worked for, he worked with you!
Bill always had time for a discussion, whether it was 2 p.m. in the afternoon or after 5 p.m. in the evening when one was trying to get home for dinner! One of the last times we visited Bill at Tucker Hall, I noticed that he was wearing a watch, so I mentioned that he never wore one when we worked together in Charlottetown--he got quite a charge out of that!
Today, we have lost a wonderful friend who was an inspiration to all; he will be greatly missed but our memories will live on forever.
Rest in Peace Bill--You Earned It!

Lianne and I send our condolences to Bill's family and we pray for God's comfort for you at this time. I worked with Bill at Royal Bank in Saint John in the late 1980s and learned many valuable lessons that served me well throughout my career. I well remember his passion and drive while working on the United Way and IWK Telethon committees. Anything less than 100% committment to the cause was unacceptable and he always set a very high standard and led by example. We know he will be fondly remembered and always missed. RIP Bill!

I met Bill in 1997 when he called me at NBCC where I then served as Principal. He invited me to join other community players at a gathering in what became soon thereafter the BCAPI.
I remember there were maybe about 90 of us at the Romero House, and we were divided into small working groups where we listened to a number of SJ residents explain what it was like to live with poverty. It was an eye opener and most inspiring to many of us.
When we gathered together for a closing plenary ( after a beans supper), Bill took the mic and summarized the identified needs and asked,” Who in this group feels they can not support this much needed work?If you can not , please feel free to leave now.” ( I paraphrase from memory).
Well, guess what? No one left ! So there he had a large group of Greater SJ business folk who had committed to work in some capacity on this wonderful initiative which has lasted since. Quite the man ! Quite the deal maker and community leader! And all carried out in the most gentlemanly, caring way.
My sincerest sympathies are extended to Bill’s family as you grieve this significant loss to your families and to our communities.

Very saddened to learn of Bill's passing.
Bill was an inspiration to all and especially to the leaders in the Saint John business community who he inspired to use their expertise, time and resources to help the disadvantaged in our community. Bill inspired through his caring, his example and his tenacity. He was relentless. Bill's contribution can be measured by the help he provided to so many in need and by the number of leaders he recruited to his cause. Many can attest to the fact it was very hard to say no to Bill Gale!
I am a better person for having known Bill Gale and proud to have had him as a friend. Sincere condolences to Bill's family and to the many who worked closely with Bill over the many years.
