To the Higgins Children
I fondly remember the Westfield golfing summers with you in the 70's. I'm sorry to hear that your Dad has died
I didn't meet your Dad til 1982 when I was his surgical intern. I know what others have mentioned about the twinkle in his eye ; seeing it saved me from many mistakes. Later I was sometimes his colleague and assistant at St Joes. Most recently I have enjoyed talking to him at the Chateau when walking my Mom. The twinkle was still there and we talked of older times.
Big hugs to you at this time.

Brian was an amazing doctor, person and friend and the Chateau was fortunate to have him here with us to bring smiles to many but always available for a friend in need whether it was to "listen" or "laugh" with. The "twinkle" in his eye was an indicator that he was either enjoying something or up to something but always in a good way. The staff and residents miss our friend so much and are thankful for the time we got to spend with him over the years. Our condolences to his family and please celebrate his life and know he will always be with you and us in our hearts.

He was a great teacher once the learner saw the twinkle in his eye. You knew it was his day off when he came to work without a tie. I enjoyed his common sense to medical diagnosis and treatment. After much discussion by others he would declare that this is the way it is. Usually spot on. I have many great memories of him. I opted to stay away from the funeral home. I expected that there would be an abundance of people.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. Dr. Higgins was her surgeon and through his exceptional skills she lived for fifteen years. Her death was a major loss to our family but thanks to Dr. Higgins we had her for all those additional years. Six grandchildren arrived in those years and all got to know her and she them.
With deepest gratitude,
Barbara and Gordon Simms
