Obituary of David Dempsey
It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Dempsey Sr. announces his unexpected passing, which occurred on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Garnett Settlement, NB on June 17, 1960, he was a son of the late Arthur and Florence (Dwyer) Dempsey.
David worked for Connors Brothers Seafood for many years. He had a relaxed personality and strong work ethic that made him easy to get along with. He was well-loved by his coworkers and his absence will be felt. Even though he was only 60 years old, his legacy will be fondly remembered by the three generations that followed him. He will be missed.
David will be missed by his children: Kizzy Hamilton (Jeff), David Dempsey Jr. (Amanda) and Lila Dempsey (as well as her mother, Charlene Mosher); grandchildren, Jacob Cromwell (Jaclyn Miller) and their daughter Serenity Cromwell, Ethan Dempsey, Austin McCluskey and Ryan McCluskey; siblings, Margaret Dempsey and Raymond Thompson; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many friends.
In addition to his parents, David was predeceased by his siblings: James, Ronald, Donald, Mary Rose and Gloria Dempsey, Jean Oudbier and a grandson Michael Cromwell.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, October 9, 2020 at 10:00 am from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
