Obituary of Donald Shannon
It is with broken hearts, and appreciation for a life well-lived that the family of Donald “Don” Shannon announces his passing, which occurred on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on January 24, 1934, he was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Donald will be missed by his beloved wife Audrey (Cosman) Shannon of 65 years and 4 months. She was the love of his life, his square-dancing partner, and his skilled colleague with antique dealing and furniture refinishing. He is survived by his children, Julia Robichaud, Heather Byrne (Bill), Sheldon Shannon (Doreen) and Patricia Shannon-Davis (Sandy); grandchildren, Eryn, Megan, BJ, Shannon, Steven and Tanner; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Donald worked 36 years for Civic Hydro, formerly the Power commission of Saint John. He retired in 1992 as Superintendent of Distribution Operations.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Monday, October 19, 2020 from 6-8 pm. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. A Celebration of Donald’s life will be held on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at 12:00 pm from Brenan’s Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will take place at Fernhill Cemetery.
