Obituary of Tom Buckley
It is with great sadness that the family of Thomas D. Buckley announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at Rocmaura Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. Born June 19, 1943, he was a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Banville) Buckley.
In his early years, Tom worked at M.R.A’S before moving onto LaBatts Brewery in Saint John, Halifax, and Moncton where he spent over 30 years. Tom was a lifetime Blue Jays fan and an avid sports enthusiast. He also had a passion for horse racing and owned several horses, Joydown, Ac’s Peter, Newport Skipper. Tom had many friends in the Maritimes whom he had horses with, Steve Mason and Bob (Fitzy) Fitzgerald. He was dedicated to his children and grandchildren which he loved dearly, whether they were playing guitar and watching sports with Cam or taking a trip to the Skydome with Skeeter, Sarah and Michael, he was always up for a fun time with his family.
Tom is survived by his two children; son, Skeeter; daughter, Stacey Long (Jonathan); brother, Billy (Susan), sister, Janet; sisters-in-law, Margaret (the late Leo) and Brenda (the late Joe); cousins, Brian, Donnie, and Kate Sheridan Lenihan; grandchildren, Sarah, Michael, Camdon, Gavin, Liam; also several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by his loving wife, Gloria (Bonner); brothers, Jack, Leo, Joe; sister, Darlene Vautour.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Visitation will take place on Thursday, November 5, 2020, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home through the funeral home using the courtyard entrance, where staff will greet and assist you with the Covid-19 protocol. A Funeral Liturgy will be held on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 1:00 PM from Brenan’s Chapel. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations can be made to The Rocmaura Foundation.
