Dear Cindy, Bob, Allan, Jane and your wonderful families,
I'm sorry for being so late in sending my condolences. I will always treasure the
many fond memories of your dad. Seeing him annually in Florida or Rothesay and being welcomed with a warm hug and kiss was something I looked forward to every year. We were so lucky to have known him and to have had him and your mum as
neighbors and close family friends for so many years. Thankfully a part of
them lives on in you and yours. Sincerely, Patricia Kearney

Dear Macdonald family,
I feel so lucky to have known your Dad/Grandad. He and Lois were such an important part of my childhood—I had my very own summer doc right across the street to give me my weekly shots! Made asthma feel like a special treat. They were both so warm and welcoming to a somewhat shy young girl, and I immediately loved being in their company and their dear cozy cottage. I’m not surprised to see how many people of different generations adored him over the years. A lovely man. Sending sympathy and love to you all during this sad time, Diana

My sincere condolences to the Macdonald family. I am lucky to be alive today because of Dr. Macdonald . I remember my parents recounting the story of how my father got me to the hospital just in the nick of time when I was about 5 or 6 months old. Dr. Macdonald managed to treat an intestinal obstruction and saved my life. He came out of the surgery room and hugged my father, reassuring him that his little girl was going to be alright and survive. I am forever grateful to him and for the work he did as a physician. Having lost my father this week and expecting a little girl in April, I now have a deeper appreciation for this story. Again, my deepest condolences for your loss.

Your Dad was my son's paediatrician in 1967 and got Greg off to a great start. He had such a wonderful, reassuring manner when dealing with a young, first-time mother and gave me the confidence to forge ahead, making the right decisions regarding diet and general health care. I always remembered him so fondly.
I'm truly sorry for your loss.

I was fortunate to work with Dr. Macdonald for several years at the old General Hospital as well at the Regional, before he retired. He was the Department head of Pediatrics when I started on the Peds unit in September 1978 fresh out of nursing school. He was the "chief' and I remember being very nervous to ask him questions but he always encouraged them and was willing to answer each question and give direction. He was a great teacher and support to nurses as well as physicians, and a wonderful pediatrician to the children and families he followed. I remember getting my first performance appraisal and there was a lovely note on it from the him, as Head of Pediatrics, evaluating my work and skill. I was so surprised that he even knew my full name, but can tell you it really gave me a huge boost of confidence. I feel priviledged to have worked with and learned so much from him over those years. My sincere condolences to all the family.

I remember his candy jar as a child, and when I moved back to Rothesay in the 80’s, he was ever so kind to my three children.
I loved to run in to him and he was always so friendly and easy to chat with. I was happy to hear Phylis Sutherland and he were great friends in recent years.

Dr. Macdonald's word was law to my mother. He was involved in my life from the point when my parents were considering my adoption, until I was too old to be the patient of a pediatrician. He was patient and kind, a visit to his office was always pleasant, and if there was a needle involved, we left with a "Dr. Macdonald candy" to take away any unpleasantness. My sincere condolences to Robert and Cindy, classmates from PES and MNHS, and the entire Macdonald family as you mourn this kind and caring man.

Carol and I were saddened to learn of Glen’s recent passing. We have known Glen for many years and he has a very special place in our hearts as forty years ago our thirteen year old son was diagnosed with a leukaemia which could not be treated here in Saint John. We elected to go to Sick Kids in Toronto for treatment but eventually with Glen’s help we were able to continue treatment in Saint John under Glen’s care.
Glen went above and beyond to work with the oncologists at Sick Kids to arrange for drugs to be delivered and administered in Saint John. His kindness and professionalism is something we will never forget.
Please accept our sincere condolences for your loss.
