Obituary of Douglas Wayne Smith
With heavy hearts, the family of Doug Smith “Smitty" wife Wanda (Kelly) Smith, announce his peaceful passing at home on Friday, March 5, 2021. Born June 30, 1949 in Saint John, he was a son of the late Winston and Marjorie (Andrews) Smith.
He was a painter and carpenter loved helping others and was always the first one there when someone needed a hand.
To him his biggest accomplishment was his children, and was proud to show it. He was known as "Bumpy" to his grandkids, which he loved as it made him unique.
His greatest pleasure was spending time in the Narrows surrounded by family and friends especially Family Day weekend.
In addition to his loving wife Wanda of 46 years, Doug is survived by his son, Shawn Smith (Amber Teakles); daughters, Stephanie Smith (Kevin McLeod) and Lacey Smith (Jeff Reinhart); grandchildren: Cameron, Ethan, Jacob, Alex, Benjamin, and Emily; siblings: David Smith, Brenda Allen (Hank), Barb Kingston (David), and Danny Smith (Julia), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). In keeping with Doug’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. For those who wish, remembrances to the Lung Association or donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.BrenansFH.com
