Obituary of Frederick Lawrence Holland
The family of Frederick L. Holland announces his passing, which occurred on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Rocmaura Nursing Home after a full and interesting life. Born in Halifax, NS, on April 28, 1935, he was a son of the late Margaret M. V. Holland and Frederick F. Bosch.
Fred was an avid bowler and fan of the sport, playing in as many as four leagues at once. He loved boxing, and in his younger years participated regularly. When he was no longer able to box, he remained involved by coaching and refereeing. He enjoyed buying and selling motorcycles, and loved going for bike rides, especially with his favourite gold Honda. Fred was a proud member of Local 213 Union of Plumbers & Pipefitters for many years, and a member of the Kennebecasis Lions Club for 19 years.
Fred will be missed by his children: Wade Holland (Debbie), Marcel Holland (Shirley), Sherrie Gutfreund (John), step-children Camille Moore (Bertha-deceased), James Kennedy, Marilyn Dikens (Joe), Bill Babineau (Judy), Karen Deuville (Blair), Katherine Ambrus (Sterling), Val Babineau, Michelle Walsh (Tim), Sean Babineau (Riann); grandchildren: Anthony Holland (Stacy), Charles Holland (Teresa), Brooklyn Holland, Alanna Holland, Stacie Holland, Stefan Gutfreund (Kenzie), Jerahmiah Gutfreund (Chey), Matyna Gutfreund (Nicole); step-grandchildren: Mary Farrah (Paul), Burton Foster (Jennifer), Sherry Foster, Brendan Foster (Brenda), Shawna Brewer (Calvin), Camille Moore (Heather), Sarah Kennedy, Candace Dikens, Ricky Dikens (Christine), Brian Babineau, Courtney Babineau, Tyler Babineau, Taylor Phillips (Drake), Stephanie Babineau, Tanner Babineau, Ashley Joyce, Dylan Walsh (Jamie), Emma Babineau, Avery Babineau; great-grandchildren: Aislyn Holland, Bethany Holland, Aaliyah Holland, Ellis Holland, Oliver Gutfreund; step-great-grandchildren: Emillie Porter, Chris Farrah, Gabrielle Falk (Aric), Jamie Foster, Travis Foster, Shane Foster, Gavin Foster, Zack Foster, Jolanta Reese (Andrew), Colten Brewer, Kayleigh Brewer, Sarah Kennedy, Alexa O'Toole, Roslyn Dikens, Lincoln Dikens, Scarlett Dikens, Isabelle Babineau; step-great-great-grandchildren: Avery Matthews, Dawson Matthews, Maggie Farrah, Tyson Reese, Autumn Reese and Zoey Reese; his siblings: Earl Holland, Murial Wilson, Grace Deyoung, Joan Barrett and Constance Christian.
In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife Annie Mae (Ross) Holland 1997 and his wife Edna Marie Babineau 2018; brothers and sisters: Dorothy Tanner, Betty Turple, Nelson Bosch, John Bosch, Shirly Saunders; stepdaughter Margaret Tuckey; granddaughter Jennifer Holland; and step-granddaughter Jane.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A private graveside service will be held at Ocean View Memorial Gardens on Thursday, March 18, 2021 at 11:00 am.
