Obituary of Ronald Levine
It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Ronald G. Levine announce his passing on Monday, April 5, 2021. Born in Saint John, NB, on May 3, 1943, he was the son of the late Isaac and Lily (Silverman) Levine.
Many will remember Ron from his days as the proprietor of the Union Deli along with his wife and soulmate, Sandra. He could always be found making sure deliveries were on their way, or happily chatting with the customers at the Deli counter.
When he wasn't at work, Ron dedicated his time to serving on the Board of Directors for Shaarei Zedek Synagogue, having sat as president as well as building chair for the synagogue, and as a member of the Chevra Kadisha. He also spent many summers volunteering as a tour guide for the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum where he loved to share a view into local Jewish history with visitors to our city.
Ron's greatest pride came from his children and grandchildren. He loved to laugh and tell them stories, his favorites always in regular rotation. His love for retelling those stories lead his grandchildren to affectionately assign numbers to their Zayde's chronicles, much to his enjoyment.
Ron is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Sandra (Chisholm); children Candace Davis (Nathan), Tammy Earle (Matthew), and Darren Levine (Julie); grandchildren Ryan, Shayna, Ethan, Courtney, Eliana, and Jadon.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Fernhill Cemetery. For those who wish, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum or Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Please place online condolences and remembrances at www.brenansfh.com.
