Obituary of William Alfred Thompson
It is with heavy hearts the family of William Alfred “Bill” Thompson announces his passing, which occurred on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born November 6, 1934, he was the son of the late William and Mabel (McCarthy) Thompson and husband of Blanche (Greer) Thompson.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Blanche; sons Peter (Peggy), Herbert (Deb), and Mark (Paula Ross); sister Lillian Dillion; granddaughters Laurie and Courtney; step-grandson Jason McCann; great-grandson Arthur; step-great-grandchildren Calla and Cormack McCann; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Saint John, where he graduated from Vocational School and later served in the Royal Canadian Navy. After leaving the Navy, he was employed by McAvity-Crane-Clow Canada until his retirement.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Bill’s wishes there will be no services at this time. A private memorial will be held at a later date. In remembrance of Bill, do a kind deed for others around you. For those who wish, donations in his memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
