Obituary of Gerald Manford McConaghy

Dr. Gerry McConaghy died on April 9, 2021. He was born in 1940, the son of Marie (Betts) and Rev. Stanley McConaghy.

He was a loving, thoughtful, helpful, and encouraging son, husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a lifelong learner with a passion to help others learn and reach their true potential. In his professional life, he was a highly respected educator – teacher, principal, superintendent, university lecturer, and consultant – in NB, QC, and MB.

He is survived by his wife Phillis (Penny); sons, Drew (Jen) and Todd; siblings, Don (the late Louise), Shirley (Ted), Ruth (the late Doug), Stan (Lois); close cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, John and Tom, and sister, Muriel.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A celebration of Gerry’s life will take place on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 1 pm from St. Paul's On The Common, 4 Church Avenue, Rothesay. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery.
