Obituary of Paul Gerald Dobson
It is with sorrowful hearts that the family of Paul Gerald “Dobber” Dobson must announce his peaceful passing on Friday, May 21, 2021, after a brief illness.
Born in Saint John on February 17, 1941, Paul was the son of the late James E. Dobson and late Jean G. Dobson.
Paul was a professional driver starting work at an early age in the family business M & D Transfer; Paul went on to drive for Smiths Transport, CP Express and was an owner-operator for Midland Transport. After a stint as a Service Manager at Dobson Chrysler Dodge in 1995, Paul turned his attention back to the road, operating Paul Dobson Trucking Ltd., taking on the responsibility of looking after the transportation requirements of the family RV business.
Paul enjoyed his time on the road, evident in his desire to continue working right up until his passing. He took great pleasure in owning and customizing his many Harley Davidson’s. He was also an avid and skilled pool player.
To know him was to love him, and Paul was always there to offer a hand up if someone required it.
Dobber will be remembered as a great road warrior to his many friends and extended road family, but Papa will be most missed by his grandsons Jaxon and Ryder.
Paul is survived by Heather Dobson and their son Stephen (Andrea) Dobson; grandsons: Jaxon and Ryder; his four brothers and five sisters: James B. Dobson, Marylee (Jack) McMillan, Peggy (Vern) Stiles, Judy Connell, Pamie (Daryl) Shonaman, David (Terri) Dobson, Daniel (Rose) Dobson, Debra (Joe) Armstrong, and Derek (Kelly) Dobson; as well as many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his daughter Lori, birth mother Audrey (Trecartin) Dobson, nephew John T. McMillan Jr., sister-in-law June Dobson, and brother-in-law Wayne Connell.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 25, 2021, from 5 – 8 PM. Guests are asked to enter the funeral home through the courtyard entrance, where staff will assist them with Covid 19 protocol.
