Obituary of Gordon Jenkins
It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon Wellesley Jenkins, son of the late Kenneth G. and Myrtle L. (Fowler) Jenkins, announces his sudden passing on Monday, May 24, 2021, at the age of 89.
Those who knew Gordon know how much he loved to cook. He especially loved to bake, creating celebratory cakes for birthdays, holidays, and any special family events. For his wedding with Rose, he even made their wedding cake. Gordon also loved chocolate, which was only second to his love for Rose. He enjoyed travelling, often exploring museums, historic sites, and nature parks, where on return, he would share stories of his and Rose’s adventures. When he and Rose were not adventuring, he would be busy reading and inquiring about local history, playing piano and enjoying his favorite music.
Gordon will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Rose C. (O’Keefe) (Boudreau) Jenkins, step-daughter Kimberley (Brian), five stepsons, John (Carol), Mark (Micheline), Sean (Cathy), Kevin (Nora) and Christopher, nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, several nephews, and cousins Laurence (Joan), Bill (Ellen), Fred (Heather) and sister-in-law Molly Jenkins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Robert F. Jenkins.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. (634-7424). Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, in parlour 6, between 2 and 4 pm. A family-only service will be held and broadcast live from Brenan’s funeral chapel on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at 2 pm. In memory of Gordon, donations may be made to the heart and stroke foundation, the cancer society, or at the donor’s choice.
