Obituary of Frances Maureen Guthrie
It is with great sadness that the family of Frances “Franny” Maureen Guthrie (Harley) announces her passing which occurred on Thursday, July 15, 2021, at St. John & St. Stephen Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB on July 3, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Michael Edward and Sarah Jane (Sliney) Harley.
Frances worked as an assistant manager for Reitman’s. She was full of fun, loved to make jokes, was faithful and dedicated to her church. Frances took great pride in her little house and yard. She enjoyed taking trips down to Los Angeles and Las Vegas to visit with her sister, Betty and her family. Frances loved each and every one of her nieces and nephews and they all loved her. She appreciated all the help that family friends, Neil Fulton and Jeanette LeBlanc gave her over the years. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Frances is survived by her two children, Robert “Bobby” Guthrie and Theresa “Terry” Oldfield (Douglas); grandchildren, Heather Oldfield (Mark) and Randy Oldfield; great-grandchildren, Deven Pipes (Raina); great-great-grandchild, Kayomi Pipes; sister, Betty Didushok; sister-in-law, Theresa DeGennaro; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her husband, Theodore “Ted” J. Guthrie; sisters, Evelyn, Rita, Dorothy, and Mary; brothers, Norman, Edward, Harold, Ronald, John, and Gregory; brothers-in-law, Nickolas, Duke, and Fred.
The family of Franny wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Church of St. John & St. Stephen Home for the amazing care they provided.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424) with visitation on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, guests are asked to enter the Funeral Home using the courtyard entrance, where staff with greet and assist you with Covid-19 protocol. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, beginning at 11 AM from Saint Ann’s Church (Saints Joachim and Ann, 135 Simpson Drive). To attend the service, please RSVP via the link on Franny's obituary. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Donations in memory of Frances may be made to The Alzheimer’s Society of New Brunswick or The Church of Saint John & St. Stephen’s Nursing Home. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
