I'm so sorry to hear of Rick's sudden passing, I worked with Rick on several merchandising projects and I can tell you he was a hard worker and he cared about doing the job right. We had great conversations at lunch time and you could tell he had great love and pride for his family. RIP Rick.

My heartfelt condolences to Andrew, Tiffany & Conner and Lynn & Corey on the sudden passing of their beloved father and grandfather, Rick Sabin. I've known Rick for over 30 years through fellowship at Carleton Kirk United Church. It was the first Christmas after my father died (1993) that I glimpsed Rick's kind and caring spirit. Three days before Christmas our oven failed. Not only did Rick ensure that a new oven was installed before Christmas, but he stopped by to see if "all was well with the oven". Looking back, I realize Rick was really paying my mother and I a pastoral care visit. Rick left our home with an oven in our kitchen and happiness in our hearts!
After moving home to Saint John in 2015 I was blessed to develop a friendship with Rick through our interests and activities at the church. Sharing brunch at AJ's after Sunday service enabled 5 or 6 church acquaintances to become friends. Rick was a beloved member of this unlikely group - entertaining us with stories, joining conversations on the serious and the ridiculous, listening to our weekly cares and concerns and offering advice when asked. Brunch was sometimes followed by outdoor outings which brought a few of us even closer. I value all of my outings and conversations with Rick and feel enriched by his friendship. I'm attaching a photo of Rick which I took on the Sheldon Point Nature Trail on the Sunday prior to his passing. I think his smile conveys the happiness he felt being surrounded by nature - God's gift to us all. Thank you Rick for the blessings you brought to so many people. I will miss your kind and gentle spirit.

I was shocked to read of Rick's passing in the United Church's Regional Newsletter. I worked with Rick at the Annual Meetings as a teller many times. He was such a sweet, gentle man. He would listen quietly to what needed done and then gently and efficiently preform the necessary tasks. We had some wonderful visits as well. He always seemed so content and comfortable. I will notice when he is not at the 'teller' table. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. This wonderful person will be missed.

So sorry for the family, Rick will be dearly missed in all the circles of his involvement. He was a kind, gentle soul, always eager to help. After his retirement from Sears, when we were looking for someone to fill the position in the SJ area stores, Nina said "my Richard would love to do that job", and he did it well! He will be missed.

Lynn, Andrew and families, I had the privilege of meeting Richard by phone on only two occasions, during the final stages of becoming the clergy at Carleton Kirk United church. In both conversations I felt as if I had known Richard for much longer period of time. Judy and I were looking forward to meeting and getting to know him better. We were both shocked to her of his sudden passing this morning. You are in our thoughts and our prayers during this sad time in your lives. May you find the support and healing needed at this time. Richard was a dear cousin and I have such fond memories of our time together as kids.
We spent wonderful times in the summer at Epworth Park. Our families got together for all the holiday occasions and we even went on a few trips together. Richard had the greatest sense of humour and his laugh was very contagious. You could always depend on Rick to give you a good story and keep you entertained. I am glad we had the opportunity to visit with Richard for a couple of days in the summer of 2019.
Lynn and Andrew, your Dad was a great man of Faith, and now may the Lord comfort you during this time. Psalm 23
