Obituary of Ginny Friars

 It is with heavy hearts and tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia “Ginny” Faye Friars on Friday, August 27, 2021, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Ginny was born on October 10^th, 1944, in Saint John, NB to Clayton and Ethel (Clarke) Campbell.

She was a deeply loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

She leaves behind to mourn her high school sweetheart and husband of 58 years Delbert.  A true real-life story of love, the foundation of how our family came to be. It was a relationship that only few ever have the privilege to truly know and experience the deep devoted love they shared. Their three children Kevin (Jackie), Kent (Heather), Kelly Badger (Tom), and her Sons of the Heart, Dale Knox, and Bruce Kelly.

Her seven grandbabies were her treasure who she loved and cherished; Chelsey Buckley (Adam), Lindsey (Landon Bueckert), Ashley (Alex Richard), Rachel, Matthew (Courtney Roberts), Kristopher, and Ryan; and her three great-grandbabies were the frosting on the cake; Rylee and Zoey Buckley & Jaxon Bueckert.

Sister Dawn Dixon (Fred), Brother-in-law Wendell Friars, sister-in-law Marilyn Friars, her life-long friend Beverly Loughery-Smith, niece, and nephews.

Mom loved her family deeply.  Mom celebrated every single moment for every single one of us from the smallest to the grandest.  She surrounded us with her love, her pride, and excitement from engagements, to marriage, babies, birthdays and first steps.  Driving to our family home she was often found in the window with her big grin, sparkling brown eyes, hands in the air clapping awaiting our arrival.  We were more than important to mom, and she made sure we all knew it.  She wanted the “News”, the daily update on what was going on in our everyday lives.  She was a listening ear, a cheerleader and most importantly a soft place to land.  She was kind, genuine and selfless.  She was aware and supportive to those around her for their struggles. She cooked, she visited, she gave time and love to those who needed it most in their most trying days.  Mom loved people, she made time for everyone, new and old friends often sitting for hours over lunch or sipping coffee.  She was funny and enjoyed our funny family moments, often being the center of the teasing.  Her home was a place we gathered.  Her kitchen table was often a place of endless chatter or a spot where tiny fingernails and toes were painted. The empty space that has been left in our family is as deep as her love for us. We will miss her terribly; we are grateful and thankful for the love of a mother like her.

Mom was a woman of great faith and knew that she was going home to be with her Lord and would reassure her family regularly that she was ready. She was a member of River Cross Baptist Church, formerly Main Street Baptist for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents and sister Marjorie Mitchell.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A funeral will be held from River Cross Baptist Church, 61 Forbes Drive, Saint John on Wednesday, September 1^st @ 2:00 PM. Those unable to attend, are welcome to view the service via Livestream. (www.youtube.com/rivercrosschurchsaintjohn) Reception to follow immediately after the service with a private family burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
