I was honoured to participate in the Celebration of Life today for John and his family. My sincere condolences to Nicole, Catherine and Kevin. I felt a real kinship for John today, hearing about his Scottish past and his maritime roots and especially his love for life. I was also thrilled to hear the pastor speak about him as a close friend would. The spirit in the service was so peaceful and celebratory. I have never met John in this life and didn't know much about him until today. I also loved hearing Laura talk about "Dad" in such a personal and powerful way. I have to say that John impresses me greatly in the only way that I have really known him before today. I am close to his son, Kevin.
Yes, I have only observed John through his son, Kevin, who is my Brother. (We became Brothers-in-Law when he married Laura, and since then we have become true brothers in every sense of the word that is important to me). Kevin is truly one of the great men in my life. I look up to him and appreciate his love and friendship. John has left a powerful legacy in my life via his son. Thank you for inviting me to be present today on behalf of my family, all of whom are greatly blessed by Kevin and his family. Thanks, John. My heartfelt condolences to your daughters and thank you again for bringing us together with Kevin.
