Obituary of Dot Dempster
It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy Joan (McKinney) Dempster, loving wife of the late Henry Dempster, announce her peaceful passing on Friday, September 10, 2021at her home. Born in Saint John, NB, on February 3, 1939, she was a daughter of the late William and Florence (Edwards) McKinney.
Dot loved to play bingo, weekly card games with the kids, Saturday night rummoli and especially enjoyed family gatherings. She loved to spend time with her children and many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Dot will be lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie Ferris (Bill), Jim Dempster, Billy Dempster (Lisa), Clifford Dempster, John Dempster (Karen), Maggie Boucher (Dave), Mary Lowe (Preston), Flowie Dempster and Violet Dempster (Carl); 19 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Annie (Bunny) Connelly, brother, Roy McKinney; many nieces and nephews; her best friends, Doreen Praught and Murray Gower; as well as her two feline friends, Snowbell and Gizmo.
In addition to her parents and husband, Henry, Dot was predeceased by her daughter, Charlotte; great-granddaughter, Faith; sisters, Betty, Peggy, Helen, Clara, Jennie (Ninny), Barbara and Connie (in infancy); brothers, Danny, Bill, Dougie, Charlie and Harold; nieces and nephews.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424), with visiting on Tuesday, September 14, 2021, from 2 PM - 8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, September 15 at 2:00 PM followed by interment in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, remembrances in Dot’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association or the Saint John SPCA Animal Rescue. www.BrenansFH.com.
