Obituary of Kevin Yateman
Yateman, Kevin Gerard
December 6, 1953 to May 14, 2021
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Kevin Gerard Yateman, announce his passing. Kevin died May 14, 2021, following a short period of hospitalization, at Hamilton General Hospital, Hamilton, Ontario.
Kevin was born in Redwood City, California on December 6, 1953 to the late Richard (Dick) Yateman and the late Mary (Sullivan) Yateman. Mary returned to Saint John when her boys were quite young. Saint John became their home. When old enough to fly alone, Kevin would spend his summers with his father. Those summer visits meant a great deal to him.
Kevin was very musical and loved to play his guitar and sing with family and friends. As a teenager, his voice was appreciated by many, as he performed in local Variety Shows and other venues.
Following graduation from Simonds High School, Class of "73", Kevin moved to Hamilton, Ontario to work as a Programmer with Nortel. Kevin made Hamilton his home. His career with Nortel continued until an early retirement due to ill health.
An outgoing and thoughtful person, he treasured his friendships with his cousins and friends. Throughout his life, he had a trusted circle of friends who now mourn him.
Kevin was the last surviving member of his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his older brother Richard Yateman of Saint John and his Godmother, the late Eleanor Catherine (Sullivan) Foster of Maine.
Kevin is survived by a large number of cousins, living across North America. Growing up with him in Saint John were Barry (Marlene) Sullivan, Marlene (Phillip) Sorensen, Catherine (Bruce) MacDonald, Patricia (Bob) Toole, Cheryl (Charlie) McSweeny, Susan (Don) Tait, Michael Madore, Peter (Sandra) Sullivan, Teresa Sullivan (Phillip McCourt), Michael Foster, Paul Sullivan and David Mullen. Survived also by his uncle's widows, Shirley Bourque (Gregory Sullivan), Fredericton, N.B, Mary Beth (Gerry) Sullivan, Vancouver, BC and Betty (John) Sullivan, Janetville, ON.
