Obituary of Tracy Ann McKay

The family of Tracy Ann (Johnston) McKay are heartbroken to announce her passing on September 23, 2021 at age 48.  Tracy was a loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt and friend to many.  She was a bright light and inspiration to anyone who knew her.

Tracy is survived by her loving husband, Andrew McKay; fur baby, Bella; mother, Valerie (Beckingham) Johnston; sister, Heather Lyon (Brian); nephew, Andy O’Neill (Jessica); niece, Samantha Blizzard (Nathan); great-nephew, Hank (her sunshine); great-niece, Loretta (her precious); her special children who were like a son and daughter, Evan and Kara Gilliland; special cousin, Lisa Maillet and her sons, Max and Sam and so many family and friends who loved her dearly.  Tracy was predeceased by her father, Earl Johnston; her fur baby, Ashley and several aunts and uncles.

Tracy had an artistic flair and passion for capturing life's special moments in photography of the people she loved most in her life.  These were her family and close friends. Tracy's pride was taking these photographic memories and journaling all our lives through scrapbooks which she selflessly made for everyone.

Over her life she battled many medical challenges and could have easily fallen into the darkness of despair.  She didn’t, she rose up and was the most beautiful ray of sunshine with the most positive beautiful outlook on life and she was an inspiration to so many people.

The family would like to say thank you to the Saint John Regional Hospital and first responders who cared for Tracy in her final hours and helped us through our most difficult time.  Also, a special thank you to Dr.  Lyndsey MacDonald who Tracy regarded highly, for all of your love and care.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) where visiting will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 from 3:00 - 7:00 PM.  The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 2:00 PM.  Due to COVID-19 health measures placed on indoor gatherings by the Government of New Brunswick, all those 12 and older attending the visitation and funeral service will be required to show proof of vaccination and a piece of government-issued ID, or proof of medical exemption.  For those unable to attend the service, it will be livestreamed and can be viewed by visiting Tracy’s obituary on Brenan’s website.  Interment will take place in Hardings Point Loyalist Cemetery.
