Obituary of Marjorie Joan O'Keeffe
O’KEEFFE, Marjorie Joan (nee Arsenault)
Nov 5, 1931 – Nov 8, 2021
Our mom, Marjorie O’Keeffe passed away at home on November 8, 2021 at the age of 90. She was the daughter of the late Paul & Elizabeth (Bernard) Arsenault and the wife of our late father, Harold O’Keeffe.
Mom loved baseball. Playing in her early years as a pitcher and later, watching all Baseball but especially the Toronto Blue Jays. Another favourite pastime was bowling. She really enjoyed herself when she was able to get away for a week for provincials & leave us 6 girls at home. Later, some of us joined her on those weeks away! Mom finally got her 400 at the age of 71.
Make sure you bring money if you want to play cards with her. Cards with her sisters & parents was a regular event. Mom also loved our cottage on Bradley Lake where we spent our entire summers. And then there’s Christmas. It was a special time for mom. The decorations, the lights & the family get togethers. We will miss her terribly this Christmas, but we will carry on her family traditions.
You can visit Brenan’s website to view a video link of photos paying tribute to mom.
Mom is survived by her 6 daughters Chrissy O’Keeffe, Carolyne O’Keeffe, Cathy Harrison (Barry), Cindy McDevitt (Joe), Cherye Poyant (Rene) and Corry Clarke (Al). Grandchildren Amanda Fagan (Ricky), Sheldon McDevitt, Janelle Poyant, Tyler Poyant, Lucas Clarke & Quinn Clarke. Great grandchild Brielle Fagan. Sister Ann Whittaker.
Mom was predeceased by her sisters; Audrey Jones, Edna Desilva, Theresa McKnight, Doris Leroy, Marie Landry, Rita Bellamy, Rita Arsenault (in infancy) as well as brothers Paul & Frank.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to moms’ caregivers, especially Joanne Latimore for helping us keep mom at home. Also thank you to the team at extramural, especially Maggie for all her amazing care.
Our hearts are broken over moms passing but she leaves us with many wonderful memories. Love you lots mom and we will feed the birds & water the flowers.
As per moms wishes there will be no visitation & we will have a private burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (634-7424). For those who wish, remembrances can be made to the SPCA, Bobby’s Hospice, or the charity of the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be made to www.BrenansFH.com.
